I've seen people discussing the gold disk in the found chest. I have to agree that it doesn't look consistent.
Found chest sitting in the outdoors...gold disk looks a few gold coins wide.
Found chest sitting on table...gold disk sitting on table looks many coins wide.
Optical illusion? Am I using different coins? Two different disks inside chest? Camera lens distortion? Do you agree it looks a different size?
Here's a link to the pics.
The disks look like they are about half the width of the chest. While sitting on the table, the disks look almost as wide as the chest!

They do look like 2 very different sizes. Don’t know what they are though.

If Forrest said the finder would have something that would make them smile when they opened the chest. Maybe they are mirrors?

If Forrest said the finder would have something that would make them smile when they opened the chest. Maybe they are mirrors? Hi Annie: Years ago Forrest did say they were 5" mirrors on Dal's. The in situ (or near situ) image of the chest in the wild seems about consistent with that diameter. Weirdly, though, the diameter of the 2 mirrors looks considerably larger in the bank safety deposit room (or wherever Forrest is sitting looking through the goodies). They cannot be less than 7.5-inches in diameter by my crude measurement, so I conclude that neither bank gold disc is actually pictured in the outdoors picture. If they were in the chest, they were at the bottom and obscured. Maybe there were actually four, flat, circular gold artifacts, and only the smaller diameter mirrors were previously mentioned by Forrest. (Side note: the larger gold discs on the table don't look very shiny and capable of serving as mirrors.)

The mirrors were described as prehistoric hammered mirrors so they wouldn’t be shiny. The glass could be on the side facing the table.

The coin set in plastic looks wider too. I was really hoping to see video of a shaky hand lifting the lid.

Maybe two of them were placed on top so that when they opened the chest for the first time they saw their reflection shining in gold.

"Save your best smile for when you open the chest." (I think it was something like that!)

"Save your best smile for when you open the chest." (I think it was something like that!) That would suggest a mirror, imagine the image, sunlight bouncing off a mirror when you open a chest of gold. Oh my! I would 😃

Oh my! I would 😃 I sure would have liked to have been there for the Grand Opening! Wonder if Josh Gates was invited? ...being sworn to secrecy, of course.

"Save your best smile for when you open the chest." (I think it was something like that!) The chest may also have contained a lot of dead spiders and ants! 🐜
