They're not from Schenectady, are they?

Congratulations to the finders.
My guess is that the clues and hints were related to Thoreau. I thought it was at ice fort cove in Walden pond reservation but couldn't find anything. At least I finally had a chance for a BOTG search.
Everything is being solved lately. Thank you Jenny for such a central source of info.

My theory was also in Fort Stage Park, but behind the boulder in half moon beach. In the book Treasure Island is a boulder, she goes there three times. half moon beach has a huge boulder, which would be the boulder through a giant magnifier. Also in clue 5, the shape in the bottom right corner is an exact match to Fort Stage Park. I will be so disappointed if it was there, I’ve been sitting on this theory since May and just couldn’t go BOTG... I really hope I was wrong but congrats to the finders...

I had mentioned Stage Fort Park at one point but didn't think much of it so didn't go check - even though I'm 15 minutes away from there. But your ideas make good sense. I also now hope that wasn't the spot.
Then again, there is a huge rock or boulder behind the finders in the picture.

I know you mentioned it, I was freaking out that you were there because I’ve had that spot since May but I live in Fl. My parents went last weekend to look but the beach was SO packed that they couldn’t find parking and they got annoyed and left without looking... So frustrating!

Congratulations to the winners.
I am so curious to find out where it was and how all the clues come together.
Looking at the reflection in the man's glasses, it definitely looks like it was found on a beach/near water. Half Moon Beach just might have been it.

So it wasn’t your parents.
I looked really thoroughly but not at the beach itself. Tablet rock matched native alter and writers tool perfectly. Pretty close to tablet rock was a multi trunked maple that you had to go up and down twice to get to. The last down was pretty steep and if you fell, you’d fall right into it. It was surrounded by rocks and boulders and in sight of the ocean. It all fit so perfectly. But I searched and searched.
I did walk to the beach and nothing jumped out at me. There was one other maple closer to tablet rock but it didn’t feel right. It wasn’t down a steep trail. I looked very briefly there.
I really hope Stage Fort was not the right park.

My spot was in Kennedy Park in Fall River, Mass. I've never been there but found some photos of a beautiful stone wall where the painted rock could be hidden and multi-trunked tree.
