I've been wondering if Fenn actually said he took the route he described in his poem or did he sneak in at the poem's finish from an easily accessible spot?
My solve involved the poem starting at a remote location but ending fairly close to a spot where he could've parked and hidden it at the end.
In other words, if the poem started at 'A' and ended at 'B', could he have parked at 'C' and hiked to 'B'?

Many people, including me, took that to mean that the final area only had one way in. For example, a box canyon. Sure, you could repel down from the steep side, but he didn't repel so we know he came in on the only road or trail leading in. The other 3 sides would be too steep.

. Forrest has made relevant statements that may appear contradictory. In a few cases, he has said that he knows no other way than to follow the clues, which implies following the route that is laid out in the poem. In at least one instance, he has said that one must follow the clues, in their mind at least. Based on what I have found, I believe that the clues in the poem describe One route, but it is not necessary or practical to follow that route to the treasure

Forrest's use of the word 'knowledge' in the above quote is strange. Why wouldn't he have said location or spot? To me it sounds like the clues are steps and in order to come up with the right answer you have to follow the steps in the poem in order.

FF’s response to Curtis was pretty elliptical. I think you’re both right. It is one way in...and he parked at “C” between HOB and blaze. Didn’t he also say that he drove up into the mountains and parked at the end of a road? Or words to that effect?

I don't remember him saying that, but I do remember having a discussion with Cynthia, Kpro and Cow via email (and I called in to his show) a couple months ago and I think we all agreed that it *might* mean only one way in. Their thought was box or slot canyon. Technically you could come in another way (repel down, helecopter, parachute, lol), but practically it makes sense if there is only 1 trail/road/river to follow. To me anyway, but I have to say I never limited my solves to this, it just so happened to work out that way.

Question posted 6/20/2014:
I have a question for Mr. Fenn: When you hid your treasures, did you take the same path that is described in the poem, or were you able to skip some of the steps because of your familiarity with the area? Thank you Curtis
"The clues should be followed in order Curtis. There is no other way to my knowlege.f"

---- No offense to Mr. Fenn, but that answer was a dodge. The question was..did HE take the same path described in his poem. A direct answer would've been "yes I did" or "no I didn't". Saying "The clues should be followed in order" is a non-answer. Of course they should be followed in order. Followed in order in the poem to solve it? Followed in order on a map when you're solving it? Nowhere in that answer did he say he hiked the poem's route. "Followed" doesn't necessarily mean "hike or walk". I'm not saying he definitely took a shortcut, but that would be one nugget he would steer clear of admitting if he could help it. The answer he gave is something I'd say if i wanted to leave somebody with the wrong impression yet still be telling the "truth". The question that should have been asked of him was "Did you hike the same route as you described in your poem to hide the treasure? Yes or no." Unfortunately I'm sure that would have yielded a cryptic non-answer as well!

Why do you guys insist on thinking everything is a conspiracy? You didn't find it, your solve was wrong, move on.

I myself don't think it a conspiracy at all. But I do think 99.9999 percent of Everyone who has read or reported story has mis-read what was told to them. The same as the poem, there's what Mr Fenn said, and there's what he meant, and there's what people thought he said. None are alike.

Then you belive the bracelet was IN the chest (as FF said many times), and the chest was IN Wyoming (with the bracelet in it). I agree, no conspiracy unless someone disagrees with the facts as we know them.
Claiming FF lied or mislead is saying there is controversy... The CLUES very well could have been in multiple parts of the world or USA, but not the items that were in the chest that was found in Wyoming.
There is no way to misread "The bracelet was in the chest" or "The treasure was found in Wyoming".
