Just to create more confusion

Why would you put large crashing waves in the painting unless the beach plays a part in the solution. A beach is the only place that you see rolling waves like that . I do like Battery park ,but think that any digging there is a bit risky with all the people there.
Anyways here are some thoughts .

I think the hair plays an important part in the final location .

good train of thought. adding to the confusion, the circled hair curves match well with the pond at SF Palace of Fine Arts.

Well it kind of does match the SF pond but was the pond there in 1980?  My theory with the hair bit is that it closely relates to a word in the verse which happens to be close to the casque location in the park. Like the flaring of the hair for Boston cause the baseball diamond has that shape. My theory for “Giant  pole , Giant step” is the giant sequoia across the street from Ghirardelli’s chocolate Since the hair shape matches closely.
