I agree with your points. I believe the solution is very solid and precise. And leads to a definite place in Wyoming.
I also believe that forest teased people with the answer to where warm waters halt multiple times, especially in the beginning of this hunt.
An example of the way forest teased is to say the clues, If followed precisely will lead to the treasure and the end of my rainbow. At the end of my rainbow are the letters Y and W, WY. And these letters can mean more than WY. This is an example from outside the poem, not needed, and not self confirming.
