Great U.S. Treasure Hunt-
Hi, guys, thanks for the mention! Most critical to note...simply finding one of the four items by "brute force" or perhaps "just randomly walking around looking for stuff in public" isn't enough to earn the prize. (We won't respond to emails with photos of people picking up random bits of debris from the street asking "is this it?", so please spend your time trying to decode the chapters. Although it is nice if you spot a bit of debris, pick it up and put it in a nearby trash can. Anyway...)
Because each chapter has a unique solution which literally spells out exactly where the item is and what the item is, there are two elements to winning...first, you have to decode the message, and second, you have to actually go get the item. If you arrive at the precise location and don't find the item, you might still win the full $10,000. You'll contact us with your solution, and your proof that you're at the location (photos, video, etc), and we'll have a representative at the location within 72 hours to see if the item is really missing. If not, the hunt continues...you missed it. (It's highly unlikely that you would get to the location, it would be there, and you wouldn't find it...if you know exactly where you're looking and what you're looking for, the items are relatively easy to find.)
If the item is missing, a 48 hour clock begins and we notify the public that an item is missing...we don't say what it is or where it was supposed to be. Within that 48 hours if someone comes forward with the item, they get a consolation prize of $1,000...because they didn't have the correct solution, just the item. You would still win $9,000 for having the correct solution.
If nobody comes forward with the item within 48 hours, it's counted as lost, and you earn the full $10,000.
4 items, 4 locations, each worth $10,000 to the finder. Not buried, but hidden. No dangerous locations. All within 500 feet of a free parking space at a location that does not require an entry fee. You can literally drive right up to the location, get out of your car, walk over and find the item.
Good luck!
