He has stated the following in an interview with Mike Cowling: "NO ANNAGRAMS" "NO RED HERRINGS" "IF IT TAKES YOU MORE THAN ONE SENTENCE TO DESCRIBE YOUR SOLVE, YOU ARE 'WILDLY' OFF" "THERE ARE 4 DISTINCT AND DIFFERENT METHODS OF DECODING FOR EACH CHAPTER, WHAT WORKS IN CHAPTER 1 WILL NOT WORK IN 2,3 AND 4" "NO LATITUDES AND LONGITUDES" "PROXY ITEMS ARE HIDDEN AND NOT BURIED AND THEY ARE OF NO VALUE" "NO CLIMBING OR REACHING ABOVE 6 1/2 FEET" "IN ORDER TO CLAIM THE $10,000, YOU MUST HAVE THE ITEM (BOTG REQUIRED) AND THE EXACT DESCRIPTION AS IT IS CODED WORD FOR WORD IN THE TEXT"

Helps the focus when working in these puzzles.

I'm kind of surprised how few "puzzle-ish" elements are in this book. There are no sections that have unexplained strings of letters, no particularly stilted phrasing that hints at hidden wordplay, no riddles / poems to interpret, and of course no pictures or illustrations. Perhaps others have discovered things that I haven't, but after reading and re-reading the text, there's just not much to sink one's teeth into.

I am rather new to this but I consider myself good at picking up on tips and cues. Everything I have "found" has been fruitless. Have you focused on one chapter specifically?

calvin, I totally agree. The codes/ciphers are well-hidden. We can make the assumption that the ciphers are within the parts of the chapters that don't belong with the overall story, such as the Star Wars bit, or the Phenwick Phutz bit, or the One Hit Wonders. But trying to find a pattern to decipher has proved difficult. Kudos to Theco DeMaster!

As with most treasure hunts, it's hard to know whether kudos or criticism will be in order until we know the actual methods being used. There's a big difference between "well-hidden" and "arbitrary and impossible to solve without additional information." Hope it's the former!
I've been looking at all the chapters. I'd be happy to focus on just one but haven't found anything in particular yet in any of them. How about you?

I've read and reread the entirety of the book scouring as much as I could. I do think I've spent more time on the Star Wars chapter and the One Hit Wonders chapter, but that's not quite intentional.
I'm curious where the spread of interested parties are as well. Washington State here.

calvin, you are correct! Giving kudos this early might be in error. I should wait to see if Theco really is a Master at developing and hiding code!
dblauntaundra, I am from Pennsylvania. I have been reading, and re-reading the book. I am not spending too much time on any one chapter, however, I am least interested in the Star Wars chapter, mostly because I don't know where to begin looking for clues with that one. I am iterested in Chapter 3 because there is the mention of the Appalacians, and if mentioning this has anything to do with the treasure placement, at least that is in my half of the US. But I have been jumping around from chapter to chapter, hoping something will "click" in terms of solving the ciphers.

I have so many lists, I need to make a list of my lists. I am in Indiana and willing to travel a bit. My family loves this kind of thing.
