Clue 4

Is anyone else still unsure of this?

I thought I had it, but because I had another brainwave this morning I'm starting to really doubt myself. There looks to be an obvious general location marker in the picture, but I can't make that fit with the rest of it

I spent hours scouring maps for this one. When I found that general location shown on the image, everything else started making sense... except the darn word puzzle. That I can't figure out. The word scrambles/codes etc have been really challenging. I've still only fully solved 2 of the word puzzles and a partial on another.

There's one obvious location marker that's staring me in the face, but no matter how much I scour the area I just can't make the connections.

I finally think I might have cracked this one... I've found links all around to a certain place. It's just that bird, I have no idea what it's meant to represent, but I feel I can skip it as there's a common link unfolding here

I would love to know what you feel the common link is, I have an idea for the final clue but don't know if it is connected to all the other clues in some way maybe!?!?

I also didn't find the significance of the bird but do have everything else. Definitely a common link within the image If you meant a common link throughout the book then I'd be curious to know, too!

Still no luck for me on the word puzzle, but I do have the raven reference.

Interesting, I didn't have a clue what the bird was or what it might mean, I have focused on the word clue now which I am getting words from but nothing that makes sense. I feel pretty confident on the other locations but this and the 6th clue is stumping me!!

So far we've seen fairly simple word puzzle mechanisms. This word puzzle infers that we should collect the gold and the black letters separately. It seems like they would not use anagrams again (hope not). Maybe a keyed shift or Vigenere? The problem would be where to officially start the letter strings off a square, so a keyed shift would be more likely which could be worked out after decoding? I have yet to figure out this location, so if the compass does not have any direct connection to the location other's have found, then it may be a clue to a key for this (perhaps the word compass, or a one of the cardinal directions??). This is just a guess and I haven't tried any of that yet.
