I'm a little burnt out but I can't remember a map with a shadow on it. That's a curious comment though.

That shadow on the map isn't in TFTW. That was added by someone other than fenn.

8.25 miles north of Santa Fe. Just look at the Highway number going north of Santa Fe. You have you're answer (only switched)

That picture was added by the article writer. Along with the few facts that he included about the chase. No offense taken at all. In fact I find it a little bit of humor in this. Of course the poem with Fenn's shadow over it would be far more dramatic and interesting than just a picture of the plain poem. That's what people in the media do – try to be more dramatic and interesting. Perhaps you could start your own blog about the chase. You seem to be quite dramatic. And you wouldn't be banned.

The thing is, that's the exact same shadow that's on the cover of 'Too Far To Walk'.
In that book cover the shadow is over a river. I think it was Firehole River? Where FF used to bath as a kid. If I remember right, Forrest had asked Dal to make that picture for the cover by going out and taking a picture of the exact spot Forrest used to bath. And then Dal photoshopped a shadow onto it. I think that's how it goes.
So, who did this map picture? Where's it come from?

I think Forrest might have said to Dal take a picture on the banks Madison and I think Forrest told his people photoshop his shadow over it. The point being, Forrest never had anything to do with the shadow being put on top of the map of the Chase. But what do I know. I don't have the chest either.

I took a picture of my shadow accidentally at my wwwh at 1800 hours second week of August. It seemed oddly familiar. I mirrored the image vertically and my shadow matched the shadow on the cover of his book nearly exactly. I didn't have my walking stick so I started putting false blazes everywhere I go. Best of luck to you all. My profile picture is my shadow with my telephoto lens at my WWWH.

The picture is from the Madison....regardless - the 66k links/8.25 miles is just a reference to the border of the Rocky Mountains.....his point was (I think) that you should look at a physiographic map of the Rockies....it excludes a LOT of the search state's area.......look at Wyoming, for example.....the Rockies only cover a small portion of the state....it was a way of narrowing down the search.

And if you're wondering - "Me In The Middle" was a reference to the Middle Rocky Mountains" - again, in my opinion.....the search area gets smaller and smaller if you pay attention to his hints....
