Be sure to view the clue! Another card clarification - in terms of numbers/math, are the Aces Cribbage or Black Jack Aces? Just as I said, be sure to view the clue. It may, or may not, clear up the "numbers/math" for the ace.

So knowing now that these are real cards, three of them look out of place to me: the punching lady, Extra, and the bird lady between the ace of hearts and the ace of clubs. Wonder what that means. The punching lady and the bicycle lady are the deck's jokers. The skeleton at the top is the king of spades. The skull on the left side behind the 7 of clubs is another extra card, but without text. The deck was printed as a sheet of 7 by 8 playing cards. 52 suited cards, 2 jokers and two extra cards make 56 cards. You can verify the cards at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hfdmh0tmSOAThe right hand "bird lady" is the Jack of Diamonds.

It is not necessary to research or buy that deck of cards. What you see on the puzzle is what you get.
And something unrelated to PLAYING CARDS, but another type of card...Did I ever mention that I like pie?

It is not necessary to research or buy that deck of cards. What you see on the puzzle is what you get. True but...I think it's helpful to know whether things are part of the cards or whether you've added them. For the former I'd lean towards ignoring them. For the latter I'd ask myself why you put them there. For example, not knowing the punching lady is an actual card, I'd ponder the significance of KO. But knowing those initials appear on the card itself, I'd probably think of it as filler.

Do you think you know what the mini puzzles are yet? Actually, getting the token in the mail gave me an idea. Our team of four is working hard on this.

In honor of this hunt, and also inspired by a farm stand I passed on the way home, I took a break yesterday from all the puzzling, pondering, and percolating to make...a pie.
Beth, want a slice? (No bribe intended. Well, maybe just a little one. )

I have received a lot of well-thought out, interesting submissions. I am learning a lot from the submissions, not only about historical events, but about my own puzzle design. I know eventually someone will figure out my puzzle. But I don't want people to get frustrated by wasting a lot of time going down unnecessary rabbit holes. I have decided to try something, and I hope this will help those of you who are trying to puzzle things out...
As discussed, there are what we have been calling "mini puzzles". To me, they seem rather easy, but I know from your end, they are a different beast! What I propose, is that if you POST a solution to one of the mini puzzles here on this thread, if it is correct, I will let you know. I may only confirm two or three. I just want everyone to see the solutions, and maybe get an idea of what they have in common. These are much more easy than people are making them out to be. I will let everyone know when I feel that I have confirmed enough correct mini puzzle submissions to give people an idea of what you need.
You may want to go back through the posts and see what has been discussed. One mini puzzle can be deduced after the others are solved and the common thread is found. Another mini puzzle is different from the rest and will not help with the common thread. So choose wisely.
(*Also, I am not home all day, and don't have my phone with me at all times, so I can't follow this thread 24/7. Keep that in mind when awaiting a reply.)

Once we have the common thing - is it obvious what we're to do with it or does the puzzle tell us? Hope it's okay to ask. We've been beating ourselves over the head with a common thing but no idea what to do with it

I would think it would be obvious.
