Love the design of this hunt and the fun family story behind it... struggling to find a launching point though. Colored letters led me nowhere (too long for a decent anagram). Mixed inner layer letters don't seem to be a shift or a sub. Tried using the dates in a cipher too... nope. The dates are historically accurate so I don't think they lead anywhere. I'm trying to use the rabbits or the writing structure now. Anyone have luck here?

I’m having the same issue. I had to put it down for a few days to reset. We’ll see if anything connects when I pick it back up this week.

Good Evening Everyone,
I would like to come forward as the Co-Solver of Treasure Hunt #8, along with Bill Gardner. I am very grateful to Bill for his treasure hunting talents and insights.
We want to extend a hearty “Thank You” to Martin Smith of Read and Seek Adventures for his superb armchair hunt, “Family Ties”. This hunt was utterly awesome. It was immensely entertaining and educational as well. We had quite a few laughs along the way! There were many layers to Martin Smith’s story, artwork, and ciphers. We encountered a lot of geography, history, and culture of Grand Rapids throughout our research. We will let Martin Smith post his solve later this week and explain it fully in his own words. He definitely knows how to turn a phrase, and he has a wonderful way with words!
Martin Smith is also known as The Grand Rapids Riddler (The GRRiddler). You can find upcoming riddles and treasure hunts of his at the Read and Seek website (https://www.readandseek.com/) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/readandseek).
Kudos to Mysterious Writings’ Jenny Kile for hosting this First Annual Masquerade Tribute: A collection of Nine Treasure Hunts for Charity. Over $4,000 was raised for charity! Jenny has been tireless in providing news and information about treasure hunts, puzzles and games here at Mysterious Writings for 9+ years. The 10 year anniversary of MW is just around the corner!
Congratulations to all the other hunt contributors for your involvement and support of these worthwhile charities, and special thanks to Beth Hovanec of The Art of Hidden Messages for her time and artistic efforts in designing and creating the beautiful commemorative tokens for this Masquerade Tribute.
Best of Luck to all of you, My Fellow Treasure Hunters! As Jenny always says: Treasure the Adventure!
