First, I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying this hunt (along with a college friend who I know would say the same!). The story is engaging and creative, and the codes and ciphers (that we've found so far) range from familiar methods to more challenging original concepts. A few intentional red herrings are amusing and quickly revealed, so it's not a frustrating wild goose chase like we've seen in some other contests. And without giving away too much, some of the solutions reveal the positive spirit of the author...there is a worthy purpose to this book beyond a simple treasure hunt.
If the author happens to see this post, I have a few general questions:
1. If and when the contest is solved, will there be a public announcement to let everyone know? If so, would such an announcement be posted here on this forum or somewhere else (or both)?
2. How often is the email address checked to see if a correct solution has been submitted?
3. Is this forum the best place for players to contact you with general questions or comments?
4. Will the solution spell out clear instructions, or might we need to take solution words (for example, if someone were to discover a very beautiful 13 letter word and an equally beautiful 10 letter word solution) and turn one into an email address (e.g. by adding @gmail.com to the end) and use the other word as the key?
Thank you so much for this rewarding experience! We've already had enough "aha!" moments to be fully satisfied...hopefully there are more to come.
