Yes, I agree with you. Taken in a straight forward manner and in context, that line of the clue implies that they aren't needed. While some of the stamps do have a purpose, they must not be one of the 7 pieces. She seems also to be hinting at other parts that aren't needed, which messed up my working theory a little for a mini-cipher puzzle as one of the pieces. There's very little about the missions, I think? There's a whole new section that we've not identified here, but goes along with one of our earlier observations about the central painting, but full clarity eludes us. And the clue picture makes us look at the playing cards a little differently. While helpful, this clue is deliciously mysterious all at the same time.
Actually looking at it again--it didn't mess up my theory. Good to know.

These hunts are all blurring together. When I first saw this I thought, "I guess other people were right after all; it does have to do with Venice. Oh wait, that's hunt #1."

I'm confused about the mask line. She talks about what sounds like at least three masks ("one" and "the others."} But I only see two in the puzzle, the one on the skull and the one on the woman. And they're both the same--a bird.

Perhaps the mask content is a layered clue, pulling double duty?? Idk. It's definitely emphasing masks which we didn't really try to do anything with yet. But also was intrigued by collecting pictures because they liked masquerades as maybe a nudge to the painting. I could be reading into it. The clue picture can be found on Etsy as the Venetian Carnival plague doctor masks. As an aside, these masks are really quite stunning.

Haha, I can see that - I'm working on #1 also (and #9, I may be stretching my brain too thin, lol). As for the three cards, I think the Extra card may be considered a masked one too (maybe she's wearing a mask instead of face paint?), so for now I'm ruling out the man skull and the lady bird - then again she's the only one that really matches the Plague Dr masks in the pictures...This clue was both kinda helpful and kinda confusing at the same time  |

In general aces are usually 1 or 11, not necessarily wild cards.
