Here is a mini-hunt to sharpen your Clue research skills in preparation for next week.
There will be no prize for this hunt, just bragging rights for the first to solve it. Have fun and good luck!

Less than forty-eight hours until I release my "Let's Play Clue" armchair hunt.
No one has claimed bragging rights for this mini hunt yet, so here is a hint:
Start on Find A Grave
If this hunt has not been solved by the time I post the CLUE hunt, I will leave it up for you to play around with.
Good luck!

Congratulations to stercox, who sent me the correct answer to the mini-hunt and has bragging rights to being the first to solve it!
I will not post the answer just yet, in case anyone wants to work through it themselves. I'll post the answer on Friday when I release the "Let's Play Clue" hunt, but feel free to submit your answer to me between now than then and you too will have bragging rights :-)

Solution to mini-hunt:
This is not the answer to the mini-clue, but directions on how to get it.
First, go to the site "Find A Grave" and select "more search options", then enter the memorial # into the Memorial ID# search box. This will take you to the grave and name of the murderer.
This name, along with information from the poem can be used to search for the story. There are a number of sites that have the story, but the one that comes up with the least criteria is "Murder By Gaslight - More Murders in Maine"
This story does not give you the name of the witness, but with more details of the story, you can either do more Goggle searches, or go to "Chronicling America" to look up newspaper articles.
On Chronicling America, use the murderer and/ or the victim's name in the "within 5 words" box and use the start date of September 1871 and the end date of December 1872 and search the newspaper articles that come up. The "little Irish girl's" name is mentioned in some of the articles on the case.
If you extend your search date past the court case, you can see a later altercation this murderer had with another man, but this time the murderer is the one who is attacked. He ran with a rough crowd!
Feel free to send me your answer for verification if you like!
