I question source and motive. If true I question how this person is going about the sale, moving the chest before the deal is sealed, leaking this news to the community etc. Why not fairly put it up for auction rather than this publicity stunt gone bad aimed at searchers only.

Clearly this turned out to be "fake news," or at best grossly premature news. I haven't read or seen any reliable data that supports the idea that anyone on the blogs has seen Forrest's treasure chest since 2020, and there is therefore no reason to believe it has moved from its last known location (in Santa Fe).
Likewise, there has been zero verifiable proof that the treasure chest has been sold, or that a sale is imminent. Amusingly, there is ALSO no evidence that excludes the possibility that the chest was already privately sold in 2020.
