Congratulations to Debby Koenig & Derek Moore, who traveled from their home in Wisconsin to the shores of the Fox River in Geneva, Illinois—and uncovered the final Heartland Stone! The gem was planted on October 2, 2020 at Island Park—in a small crevice at the base of a towering oak tree. Tonight, 423 days later, Koenig retrieved it from its hiding spot—with her other half at her side. As a registered hunter, Debby claims the full $750 reward for her find! Congratulations again to Ms. Koenig! — a dedicated Seeker who tracked down the Geneva stone on her second visit to the island (and put boots on the ground at Berea Falls as well). Debby and Derek share this victory with search partners Candy Putman & Peggy Sutton (and Allie Mae!) and research partner Josh Ellingson (who recovered the second stone in Barnes, Wisconsin earlier today). The pair dedicate this big win to their fearless canine companion Gizzy—whose hunt ended just a bit too soon. All three rubies have now been claimed; the twelfth and final chapter of the Ruby Hunt saga will be published on December 15.
