Way too many landmarks to not be in Herman park.
Certainly the Sand dunes could represent waves but they also represent the Miller hill and possibly that drinking fountain close by the sand in the square.
In the pics below I numbered the sections that are ascribed to the large columns.
The number 2 column( camel) ,shows that angle stone below. If you drew a line from that hump section of the pathway on the map going due south you would see that same angled stone by the pathway, unfortunately it has recently been repaired or removed.
Way too many landmarks matching to not be in Herman park. Show me another park with zoo animals.

The Djinn tied into the whistle shadow and the train tracks could also be that section where the train goes by the sidewalk tooting the whistle close to the 982. I can’t see them moving a huge locomotive around much
The verse is essentially telling you your task to go from the fortress north to the 982 ( a straight line NS)

Then there's the Freemason Masonic Tracing Board "star map".

I’m starting to smell some Bacon🥓.
Even though that image has strong similarities to this puzzle painting I doubt it has any bearing on the final location. If you think it does then it just reinforces the idea of following a straight path from the 982 to the Planetarium ( the Masonic Star), and the key falls at the final location ( by the tallest pine tree/ sycamore tree area), even though the NSEW markings are in the wrong location
The central point on the map is telling me where to look( treasure ground) and find the clues that match for the final casque location

Much like the Chicago verse you went from the M and B set in stone “ To” Congress R is known . That “To” was a straight line down Michigan Ave.
I think most of your verse falls along that straight line from the 982 to the planetarium. Sure you have your Freedom pavilion, ( Freedom south)  and your water veering ( McGovern lake fountain as side clues). This is set in December and the leaves have dropped so you should be able to see all those landmarks from the treasure ground.
Your “small of scale step across “ is probably stepping across the kiddie train tracks just north of the 982 when you follow the pathway heading north.

If you think it’s in another park then that park had better have something to do with animals , have sycamore trees by the dig site, and connect to a large body of water somehow. Herman park is part of a park system that connects to the river.

The concept of tracing board is that Freemasons laid out structures in the same pattern as the stars. As above, so below.
So that's where the moon, camel and rhino above come to play.
Definitely a large body of water like a sea is involved.

Too many slices of Bacon for me.
I’m starting to think that the 3 larger columns are representations of the dirt( or use to be dirt) pathways from those landmarks .( Sam Houston statue area, the camel hump path outline and the Miller theatre)
Still unconvinced that the treasure ground is anywhere else but here .
Have yet to see an entire theory posted that’s more convincing.
Even that short raised area behind the columns in the painting could be the short wall that surrounds those Sycamore trees and the casque is buried in the centre of those 4 walls, “in the centre of 4 alike”.
The walkway looks like it has been improved but those train tracks have been there for a very long time.
Remember those fairy secrets come in two’s. So the Djinn is both the drinking fountain ( by the casque),the sewer drain and the small kiddie steam engine exhaust.


You might even look at the Djinn’s folded arms as an “X” marks the spot which is by the raised short 4 walls by the Sand dune, ( Miller hill) in the painting that contain  those Sycamore trees by the drinking fountain in real life. The line crosses the elbow or you might look at it as the corner of that wall.

Dealey Plaza Dallas, TX Corner of Main Street and S. Houston Street

Verse:
Fortress north cold as glass (Sky scraper at the north end of Houston Street)
Friendship South (Reunion Tower south of park. These give you your north and south bearings.)
Take to your task the number nine eight two (Make your own "clock" for the map: Houston is 12 and 6, Main is 9 and 3, a line across Dealey Park for 8 and 2 would put you on the lamppost where the casque is located 32.778445 -96.808373)
Through the wood no lion fears (This references the grassy knoll on the west side of the hill because a lion naps in the sun on a knoll)
In the sky the water veers (There are fountains at Dealey Park)
Small of scale (Refers to the statue of George Bannerman Dealey)
Step across (Step across to the grass area behind the cement arc)
Perspective should not be lost (The illustration is not meant to be an actual scale model of what you see)
In the center of four alike (On the southernmost section of the concrete arc go to the center it will make a line to the lampost again)
Our strongest tower of delight falls gently in December night (Refers to the USS Dealey which was laid down December 15, 1952 and decommissioned July 28, 1972 to tie back into that the illustration is for July)
Looking back from treasure ground There's the spot! A whistle sounds. (If you face the lamppost eastward the train tracks are behind you.)

The camel on the post is because this was the area of a trading post in 1840.
Railroad track is for the track west of the park and Dallas had one of the first rail road crossings in the country.
Star above pillar represents the light from the lamppost.
Sand dunes represent the grassy knolls.
The way the man in the illustration is standing is the pose of John F. Kennedy in his portrait by AAron Shikler that is at the White House in Washington D.C.
Space shuttles in trees to re-emphasize Kennedy for Kennedy Space Center.
The Dallas County Tax Office building at 50 N. Houston Street in Dallas is in the middle of the trees on the right, a lighter color.
The numbers 95 and 96 are in the trees.
On the "lamppost" column base the number looks like 53 but is actually 32 with the five being an upside down two. These give you your longitude/latitude lines.
The casque is probably at the bottom of the lamppost, to the right of the base near the above coordinates based upon the jewels location in the illustration.

Sorry, I don’t buy it.
Not to say your theory doesn’t have any merit but if you go back to the first three casques that were found you will see a pattern evolve , study them carefully.
To bury a casque in the Dealey Plaza area? The place is pretty much sacred ground, a National historic site. Tourists abound.

I’m going to try to refine the location of the casque (where I think it is). There’s always a need to refine.

The verse

“Fortress north
Cold as glass
Friendship south
Take your task
To the number 982”

Those 6 lines are basically reinforcing your start point , ( the 982 ) and landmarks by the park( planetarium and friendship pavilion)

“Through the wood
No lion fears
In the sky the water veers
Small of scale
Step across”

Those 5 lines are telling you to head north. If your at the 982 the only way that your going to be able to step across the kiddie train tracks is by heading north, also that is the heavily wooded area in the park.

“Perspective should not be lost”

Let me rephrase that line. “ Perspective should be found”.
Now perspective can be seen everywhere but only one place in the painting. If you draw the lines of perspective in the painting you see that the vanishing point or END point lands close to the crest / top/ CORNER of the “Sand dune” . I think this line is eluding to the final resting spot of the casque , ( corner of the sand), much like the Boston verse line “feel at home”

I think he is referring to the 4 metal posts that are by the drinking fountain and the 4 short posts in the painting. Three of the posts in the painting and in this location appear to be “ set in stone/ by concrete “
In the painting the central point between the 4 short posts in the background falls directly on that north / south line in the painting
If you are standing there in the park and looking northward you will see the 3 winged and slight.

This is probably referring to the 3 pine trees that have had their lower branches trimmed off ( winged).
Looking at the Djinn headdress top, you see 3 black marks ( folds) that appear to be in the shape of pine tree needles.

Those line are in reference to the Herman Melville book “The Ambiguities “. Confirmation for Herman park and leaves that fall in the are of the casque.
He could be talking about the tallest of those three pines, being the strongest and this is a directional way point to look at
From the painting I’m going to assume that the strongest tower is the one with the rhino on the top. Since it has 2 leaves on the column like 2 hands.

Let me rephrase the first two lines. “ Looking forward from the spout is the treasure ground”.
If you have to look back from the treasure ground to see the spout ( drinking fountain) then the treasure ground is north of the fountain ( you were going north),in the sand, the perspective end point. The camels tail is black ( the end point), it’s north of the Djinn in the painting, ( the drink fountain ).
As well the kiddie train( the whistle) is south of the treasure ground.

In the pic image on the right you see a green line that I placed , which is an extension of the camels tail and points to the “Lion shaped” drinking fountain and the post.
