In the spirit of community, I'd like to share my theory of Verse 6 in the setting of Charleston with this group and a couple others. If any locals deem it worthy and are willing to take on the challenge of a legal dig, it would be great if you throw me a bone if you locate it. I would first like to share a story, one that I think Mr. Priess was telling us. Below that I will share more specific information on how I reached my conclusion.

Men of tales and tunes
Cruel and bold (The Bogeyman)
The word bogey originated in the mid-19th century, originally as a quasi-proper name for the devil.
Like many other Southern folktales, the “plat-eye” stories were brought over by African-Americans who had been sold into slavery in the 19th centuries. They are especially prevalent in the coastal Gullah communities of Georgia and South Carolina. In these tales, the plat-eye is typically an evil spirit who has not been properly buried, and now stands guard over buried treasure deep in a forest or swamp. Plat-eye stories became especially prevalent after the Civil War, when rumors thrived that the plantation owners had buried their Confederate money to keep it away from the Union army. In some of these stories, a slave was beheaded and buried with the treasure. His restless spirit would then become the guardian of the loot. The plat-eye originally had one eye that dangled from the center of his forehead. But in later stories, the plat-eye took on many different forms, such as the strange creatures in our version. www.themoonlitroad.com/gullah-culture-federal-writers-project-plat-eye/

Hear the cool, clear song of water "Cool Water" 1936 by Bob Nolan Lyrics
Major Daniel’s Creek The creek at the north side of Charles Town was known as Major Daniel's Creek in the late 1600s.. Governors Bridge carried East Bay Street across a tidal creek at the north side of Charles Towne. The bridge had been completed by 1747, when Charles Pinckney paid for construction material “agreed to be landed at the new bridge.” When Charleston was settled, this creek and its marsh spread inland from the Cooper River as far west as Meeting Street. “Major Daniel’s Creek” was maintained as a shipping channel, with ongoing improvements that drained wetlands as “made ground” for building lots. After the bridge closed off its upper reaches, the creek was filled as Canal or Ellery street – today’s North Market Street. Pinckney of course ties into Eliza Lucus (his 2nd wife) who started the indigo planting, and helped Francis Marion elude capture at Hampton Plantation.
Lyrics:
All day I've faced the barren waste Without the taste of water, cool water Old Dan and I with throats burned dry And souls that cry for water, cool, clear water Keep a-movin', Dan, don't you listen to him, Dan He's a devil not a man And he spreads the burning sand with water Dan can you see that big green tree Where the water's runnin' free And it's waiting there for you and me The nights are cool and I'm a fool
Each star's a pool of water, cool water But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn And carry on to water, cool, clear, water The shadows sway and seem to say Tonight we pray for water, cool, water And way up there He'll hear our prayer And show us where there's water, cool, clear, water Dan's feet are sore he's yearning for Just one thing more than water, cool, water Like me I guess he'd like to rest Where there's no quest for water, cool, clear, water

The Citadel traces its origins to an arsenal constructed by the state of South Carolina to defend white Charlestonians against possible uprisings of enslaved people following the thwarted Denmark Vesey rebellion of 1822 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_The_Citadel
In 1822, the South Carolina Legislature passed an “Act to Establish a Competent Force to Act as a Municipal Guard for the Protection of the City of Charleston and its vicinity.” At the request of the State of South Carolina, troops from the federal garrison at Ft. Moultrie became the first guard of the new state arsenal on January 8, 1830. go.citadel.edu/citadel-history/brief-history/

If you look at Hampton Park on Google Maps, it has similar outline to Ft. Sumter. on the painting with the star. You have to zoom in to find and follow the power lines. You can see they create 4:00. If you look below the concession bar and follow the lines on street view, you can find one that is on an island in-between two walking paths. I believe it is buried on the southside, closest to Moultire St.
