Hello everyone, This is my first post on your forum. After catching part of a rerun episode of Expedition Unknown a few days ago I was intrigued enough to investigate this game. I noticed there was a casque hidden in Charleston. After looking at the painting I recognized many of the “clues” and charts as I have been in and out of Charleston harbor by water several times throughout my career as a fisherman. I mentioned this to my father who is an Expedition Unknown fan. He informed me that there was also an episode that included the Charleston riddle. That evening after watching the show I again viewed the painting and found the associated verse. It didn’t take long to get sucked in. After 3 or 4 hours I was convinced that I had unraveled the mystery. ‘The approach I used was way out of the box as I had no background knowledge of the treasure hunt nor was I aware of this forum and work others had done beyond the show Josh Gates did. I spent the next day sort of reverse engineering the clues as I found more info available online. Long story short - in under 24 hours I had a complete explanation for the verse as well as deciphering the painting. I did order a book that is supposed to be here tomorrow that hopefully has the information I am seeking.
I found this forum yesterday and thought there might be someone that can tell me who to contact in regards to claiming the associated prize. Soooo…. What do I do now?

Go dig it up, but make sure you get permission 1st. Post a picture of yourself holding the casque and Josh Gates will be with you shortly. The prize will be given to you at the next Expedition Unknown taping.
Seriously though,. Go read the many posts on the Q4T forum as well as “ the secret a treasure hunt by Byron Preiss” web site. You will gather much information as well as access to the entire Secret book both in English and Japanese . There are also numerous Facebook groups out there. Good Luck

Thank you for responding, At some point I am going to apply the same theory to another puzzle and see if it holds up. In regards to the Charleston riddle - WPG is only the key. Not the burial site. I expect if the other riddles come together like this one the popular theories that think the spot is located but can’t be dug is actually the spot that holds the key for the final few clues. After now reading many many posts and “solves” the methods are were way off base. Find a path that takes you Up out of the mire that was created early on. One of the immediate assumptions I made was that the verse about the shadow of the “Long Palm” meant the entirety of land behind the Isle of palms. (Christ Church parish) - The Isle of Palms and Sullivan island were one island in te early 1700s and called “Long Island” - This gives you a different (much much larger) scale of the search area.

Well, Good Luck again. Keep it Simple. Like some say, It’s just theory until one finds a casque.
