I’m going to post some ideas (theories),regarding the jewel and why it’s located in the spot in the painting.
I will add to this theory from time to time if something new surfaces. 

CHICAGO 
The jewel is superimposed on the stiff collar in the corner dangling down from a hinge portion of a ring . The collar has one side with a wavy edge. I’m going to call that wavy line a “rumble “strip aka the railway. Again most think the earring is for the Chicago loop.
Thanks to Choice for pointing out that the collar could be a wall and the green gem a green electrical junction box.
So again the casque was by an embankment and an active railway ( fairy secrets come in twos ).


CLEVELAND
The jewel is in the planter and the planter is made of stone. Again look at those so called “restrictions “, the planter is by an embankment and Cleveland was/ is the home town of JJP ( one of the contributors ). I think the city can be tied to the creators , not their property “
We know someone in San Francisco was involved.


BOSTON
The jewel is in the hands of the fairy and she is looking at home plate. Both hands are holding the jewel like a pitcher winding up for a pitch would hold a ball before throwing it. Regardless, we know the jewel was close to home plate. 
Again the casque was below an embankment and  cemetery at Copps hill. Also an area that was once contaminated with Great Molasses spill. Thanks to Canuck for pointing out the orientation of the jewel is diamond shaped for Baseball diamond.


NYC
The jewel is in the water above the wave. I think it’s symbolic for those that drowned as reflected in the Maritime Memorial at the Battery and being raised to the Virgin Mary. Again with the theory I proposed is the casque would be somewhere along the back wall of the Maritime memorial  close to the Eagle monument.
An embankment ( Maritime memorial wall), is involved and also NYC was BPs home town, ( just don’t dig on his property).



ROANOKE 
The jewel is central on the brassy wing shaped belt directly below the BELLy button of the individual. I think it’s in the Waterside theatre by the Albert Q.Bell plaque and the wing shaped flower bed.  Again close to the edge of an embankment ( the seating area) and the flower bed. The play itself is about “ The Lost Colony “ , one might consider that as a cemetery tie in but you have two clues already.



CHARLESTON
The jewel is in the corner of the painting surrounded by black. It's black as a symbol of the slave trade and by definition black means conflict. In the jewel you see the Mortar gun. So is it embedded in the sand close to the mortar gun?Again the casque is close to the sea wall embankment  close to the road ( highway?) and the black cannons on either side.



ST. AUGUSTINE 
The jewel is part of the birds eye. Do you need a birds eye view above and below to solve the puzzle? I showed in my St. Augustine post ( Dig here), where I think the casque is buried. There are 2 possibilities  Again it’s by a highway?or by a cemetery.



NEW ORLEANS
The jewel is embedded in the clock. There is a golden brassy arch over it ( a bridge ?) The big hand on the clock extends to the base of the jewel while bisecting the ”V”in preservation. Could be just saying the jewel is in the French quarter with that bridge to the north in Armstrong park  ( substructure made of metal?) . The dig site I proposed ( “All that Jazz “ post) is in the V shaped fence ( aerial view GE), in the upper level ( grass) or possibly lower level corner. Again the casque would be by this embankment and by the cemetery that holds the Voodoo Queen. Jackson square has strong possibilities since the jewel in the painting is located in the area where one would see the phases of the moon. Mr. Moon was the mayor of NOLA back in 1980 and construction to the Washington artillery monument was done at the same time which is beside ,( south of), Jackson square.Rectangular brass plaque present.


HOUSTON
In the painting the Ruby Jewel ( almost heart shaped)is in the corner of a stone paver . There is a blue tinge close by it in the stone paver . Along with the Arab theme ( sand dunes), this  is telling me that the casque is in the sand that has the stone boarder and water ( drinking fountain), close by. ( The Eagle has landed post). Again the casque is by an active railway track and below an embankment ( Miller theatre hill). If you like the JFK tie in then you could stretch it a bit by saying playwright Arthur Miller ( Miller theatre hill ) ,was married to Marilyn  Monroe who had an affair with JFK. Also JFK gave his famous speech about going to the moon next door at Rice University.



SAN FRANCISCO 
The pearl jewel is on the throat of the girl. By definition “throat” can be a narrowing of a pathway, much like the area I proposed in GG park where the walkway from the street narrows then leads to the Spreckels lake perimeter pathway. The Jewel is also the representation of the concrete turtle island in Spreckels lake. In the painting a line drawn from corner to corner goes in between the girls hair ( sequoia / redwood tree) and the pearl ( stone concrete island). Again the proposed dig spot is on the edge of an embankment by a road and one of the contributors friends lives in SF. Recently the Fairmont hotel theory has been proposed and has a lot of good matches but nothing noted for the jewels location.



MILWAUKEE 
The jewel is in the black ( jewel is the eye of the sewer rat and the raven) below a drainage pipe that leads to a manhole cover. Ravine Rd. plays a part and Lake Dr. The central point on the painting points to a concrete foundation ( the city hall foundation). So is it by one of the roadside drainage grates that has a concrete foundation substructure to contain the flow of water( south side of road) on Lake drive  near Ravine rd. Again the dig site is close to an embankment ( Ravine Rd.) and close to a cemetery ( the burial grounds/ mound  by the baseball field). Other possibilities are at the lower end of the ravine by the lighthouse. Somehow a sewer and a ravine are tied in to the location. 


QUEBEC CITY aka Montreal for some
The jewel is in the cap of the individual. Cap by definition can be a slab of stone that’s used to cover something. The checkered pattern on the hat , ( cap), probably indicates stone, ( flag / cap stone) or the stone wall of the sunken garden. The central point in the painting falls below the steps on the west side, location of the casque in Joan of Arc gardens. Again the casque is below an embankment and beside a flower bed

Not interested in digging for the Fame or Fortune, just the solve. Problem solving is good for the brain.

Digging is overrated! We work with BOTG and scouts to observe and probe.
I know some people that claim to dug thousands of holes unsuccessfully and for some reason they wear that as badge of honor. I consider that bad puzzle solving!
Dicey, one can only opine about the puzzles that have been solved with certainty to stablish a pattern to prove a theory.
Cleveland, you say cask is in a stone planter because the jewel is on a stone.
Boston cask should be under/near home-plate because fairy is looking that way.
How about where the centaur is looking?
How about the fairy's hands holding the jewel?
IMO you totally missed the Chicago connection. Collar looks like the wall where the green (jewel) electrical 'fixture' was mounted.

The post is primarily about the jewel and how it’s linked to the dig spot. All theory.
For Cleveland the jewel is on what’s called the “key “stone of the arch that happens to look like a planter, that’s the key I’m sure once you got to the casque location everything would click together . The centaur is looking at his smoking goblet/ chalice ,there might be a clue here but no gem involved there. Kind of like the conquistador in St. Augustine staring out into space. Can’t see his eyes.
Yep forgot to put in that the collar in Chicago could be a wall. Thanks, the Green  Electrcal box sounds logical.
Even JJPs initials are by the gem but also superimposed on what appears to be the profile of a person’s head with lips closed ( library ,quiet, nearby).

The fairy‘s hands holding the gem , well one can debt that forever. I think that she represents a pitcher and that’s the direction you take the steps towards. Regardless the casque was still close to home plate. Some might say she’s out in right or left field catching a fly ball . Since the casque was that close to home plate then one would have probed in an arc around home plate.

I always welcome constructive criticism.   It’s all theory and the way I interpret it ( to fit my dig sites), Could be bias, Could be wrong , could be right. I leave it for others to digest it and dig there if they wish, no strings attached.

I also believe the orientation of the gem in the paintings is important and can be a clue.
Just wanted to point out in the Boston image, the way the fairy is holding the peridot is important. Notice she is holding it so that looks DIAMOND shaped as in baseball diamond. If she holds that gem square you don’t get that clue.
Unsolved ones are anyones guess, but definitely study their orientation and surrounding objects in the images to hopefully gain a clue.

Thanks Canuck. That makes logical sense about the jewels orientation.
Here’s another possibility. Again all theory.
All the parks are either historic ( you learned about them in some way in school or visited them while on vacation) or all the dig spots are close to areas you played at as a child/ teen.

Historic: The Battery, initial landing point for immigrants, now a launch point for the SOL (NYC), White Point garden in Charleston ( start of the Civil war), Roanoke ( Lost Colony/ Sir Walter Raleigh), St. Augustine (Ponce de Leon and the FOY), Quebec City ( battle of the plains of Abraham between the French and English).

Play: Milwaukee lake park ( dig site close to baseball field/ golf course), Boston ( in the baseball field), Chicago ( well there are play areas in the park just not close to the dig site from what I can see), San Francisco ( float your boat in Spreckels lake), NOLA ( Armstrong park was newly refurbished in 1981 ,so since Storyland park is in the park system I’m going with that connection ), Houston ( Zoo and train ride).

Cleveland is the outlier for parks and it was JJPs pick not Byron’s. Probably for the Greek tie in with JFK and Onassis.

Another odd thing I noticed is JJPs use of a double line,  like the one you see below the jewel on the collar in Chicago, Around the planter in Cleveland, Around the top of the jewel in NOLA , Roanoke the boarders of the belt and possibly in other locations in other paintings . I think this is his way of saying concrete structure.

Anyways all theory for now.

As for locations I take a different approach, favor very non-descript areas for casque burial sites. The three known burial locations weren’t very well known or popular places in their respective cities. Of them, Grant Park in Chicago is obviously the most well known in comparison to the other two. I’ve been to Grant Park and while some areas like Buckingham Fountain, Cloud Gate, and Shedd Aquarium/Natural History Museum are crawling with people, the corner where the casque was buried is hidden and remote. Railway on west side and street to north is elevated so that you can’t look down into that corner from above.
So if you favor well-known parks as your spots, look for quiet, somewhat remote areas of them for your burial sites.

I agree that he didn’t want to be seen . Judging from JJPs comment that he was the lookout guy while BP did the burial for Cleveland. For Boston out in an open ball field, that location doesn’t quite fit in. Unless he did it on a foggy day or in the cover of absolute darkness or he just had a construction helmet on his head along with a pair of workers coveralls as a way to not garner attention, it’s just speculation for now.

True that the first 3 parks don’t mean much to most but all do boarder water in some way, fit the immigration theme, and the dig site fits some of those restrictions in the book .That’s a difficult combination to get all the pieces to fit together. At least that’s the way I see it. I could be wrong. Then with my proposed JFK tie in ,even more difficult. It almost seems like he’s looking for a corner to bury the casque in.
Why did JJP pick the Greek section of the cultural gardens? You had a dozen different countries to choose from. Why Italian for Boston when Irish would make more sense?🤔

Three observations. Only my opinion.

• Chicago dig site interpretation is correct.
• Cleveland jewel is mounted on a cask with lid in the image. Look above it. There’s a long block with a “10” chiseled in the left side.
• Boston fairy is not a pitcher. Pitchers do not pitch on their tippy toes! Her wing and toes indicate that she’s up in the air. I think she’s the green tower of light aiming the light in the direction of the home-plate. Notice the bright point on the bottom left of the jewel. She’s reflecting the light.

The fairy in Boston could be a player out in right, center, or left field catching a fly ball .

I find the jewels kind of interesting.
Do the white triangles in the gem point north?
Are there images in the jewel itself? I think there are in some. City skylines, object near the dig site , clues to the dig site.



Are these structures visible at the corners and side of the gem for NYC ?
