Does the location of the flower in the painting help in determining the dig site? Can you see the flower/ plant/ flower bed from the dig site? For Houston if you look for American sycamore tree flowers you will notice that the small petals of the flowers look like a larkspur flower. These are my thoughts on that theory. BOSTON

Now all you have to do is to provide period photos or city planner's blue prints of such flower boxes at those locations so to find out if there were plants in any of those planters/beds or if they even existed then. At least the 3 solved ones. I do like spitballing and pointing out similarities or image/site correlations. Even posting an image could trigger an idea. For example Milwaukee jewel shape and it's southwest angle reminds me of the lions perches and their direction.

You can see most if not all of those flower beds( areas), from historic aerials. Milwaukee, Quebec City, San Francisco, NOLA, NYC, Roanoke, Charleston,Houston ( it’s the small flower of the American sycamore tree that looks like a larkspur , that’s why you see the flower in with the tree leaves), and the three that were already found. The only one that would be difficult to confirm for me is St. Augustine but then again your theory for St. Augustine says flower bed. Some of those aerials are useless. Now your not going to get the fine details with a flower growing in it but one can see if any changes have been made over time. I try to keep this puzzle as simple as possible and see if it fits a pattern. It’s not rocket science. JJP puts objects in the various locations for a reason. Another thought I had was if somehow the names like Andrew, Augustine, Joan of Arc, maybe Mark for Mark Twain and others are all tied to Saints. This one for GGP

The historic Arial photos don't show anything conclusive since they are low resolution and out of focus when zoomed in. What is clear is that you're pointing to sidewalk trees in Boston as flower box and a planter across the street from Chicago area that again not sure existed. If you think this is a methodology that JJP followed then fine. goo.gl/maps/owyiFBmMZDndZcw87

So what your saying is that you can’t have a tree growing close to or in a flower bed? Certainly we have to make educated assumptions since a lot of changes happen over 40 years.

So what your saying is that you can’t have a tree growing close to or in a flower bed? I don't know how you came to this conclusion from what I posted. That makes me question your "educated guess". I questioned the logic of connecting a random planter across the street from a park or a planter by the entrance of the ball park 60+ feet away from the base as a methodology. Seems forced or as nerds say "the force is strong with this one." As to the NYC, if you see the dragon in the dark shadow of the 'liberty' that has bat like wings + 4 jewels in the painting then it may get you to that spot.

All I’m trying to do is to show maybe why the flower is painted in that specific location in the painting. and how it might tie into the dig site. Another confirmation clue. It’s all theory.
As far as the dragon like dark shadow in lady Liberty ? You would see the Dragon on Viking war ships so It could have something to do with Vikings , ( there were so called Dutch Vikings),but more likely tied into the Maritime memorial and the war ships that were sunk in WW2, (that’s why it’s painted black). Just a tie into war and ships probably. Liberty class war ships maybe. There might be a Scandinavian connection somewhere.
I see one jewel. Can you point out the others

Well those so called water droplets could be tears for those who died. Water splashes, islands , drinking fountains ,anyones guess ,. Maybe jewels but what kind of jewel would one associate with water? I doubt he would disguise a jewel as a water droplet but if you can superimpose the layout pattern of those water droplets and jewel onto the flag and if they precisely fit then you might have something.
When I rotated the lady Liberty image and superimposed her on to the Battery ,the jewel fell directly onto the Coast Guard memorial monument at the east end. Might be just a coincidence might not. There is a flower bed around that monument.

Fair enough . That Topaz doesn’t quite fit but maybe. Yes I know ithe Topaz is for Russian Jews but the problem I find with Sharansky is he was a Ukrainian Jew persecuted by Russians in the USSR. The only Russian Jew I can conclude from this puzzle is Gershwin. “ Simple roots in rhapsodic man’s soil”.
Those objects that the dragon has in its claws are Norbu or jewels which represents national wealth in the country and perfection. Doesn’t say any thing about the jewels being pearls. The flag is fairly recent ( 1971). Before this date the dragon had 2 jewels
The problem I have with those jewels being pearls is that Bhutan is a land locked country

Puzzle is for Soviet Union not Russia even though I read Soviet and Russia interchangeably here. In the early 80's Russia was a republic in Soviet Union. It's like calling USA California.

I’m pretty sure most of these countries that were occupied by the Russians never considered themselves Russian like East Germany. Why make a point that Sharansky was Ukrainian. They still had boarders. I thought the jewel was for Russian topaz not USSR topaz. The Ukrainians were not Russian they were collectively called Soviets. It’s like calling someone from Washington DC a Texan .
