Hello all I am making this thread today so we as a community have a spot to discuss the Lost Grand Rapids Reddit Treasure located in Michigan.
Back Story:
On April 21, 2022 an annon user took to the r/Michigan subreddit and posted the following,
title:
My days are almost over, I want to bring someone joy with the time I have remaining
I have only ever used Reddit to keep up with the news and goings on, this will be my first post. Long story short I am very ill, I have been for quite some time. Unfortunately, within the past month my situation has taken a turn for the worst and I’ve been given maybe a month tops before I “kick the bucket”.
I have always been a fan of scavenger hunts, and thought why not host one before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Today I hid a chest full of my worldly possessions somewhere in the Grand Rapids city limits - and put together a little poem that will help lead you to it.
Sadly I have no descendants or close friends to bequeath my lifetime of treasures to. My dream was to one day pass my collection of ancient coins, precious metals, historic relics, and various curiosities to my children, but fate decided that was not to be. I therefore bequeath it to the person who finds it.
The chest is fire, water, and weather proof, and inside is a notarized document handing over possession of the items to the finder. Also included is a brief autobiography of my life and how I obtained many of these treasures over the years. My hope is that when I am gone, at least one person will know my story.
I shall quit my blabbering, here is the guide:
Head on down to the river’s side where the geese march and the lover’s stride. The launch point is your starting point then march North to where the path disjoints. From here head East 30 steps and then you turn and take a left. The next 48 steps will not be FuN but worry not, you’re almost done. Assuming that you did it right, you should be standing beneath a light. One more left, then 21 steps. Now feel around beneath the depths. The chest should not be very deep, Once it’s found it’s yours to keep.
Once this Reddit Post was made the Post essentially went viral in Michigan reaching over 1500 upvotes pushing it to the top of the r/Michigan Subreddit containing 300 thousand people along with hundreds of comments on the post and possible solutions.
many people concluded it was in Riverside Park In GR so many people flocked there for months to search they came from all over michigan and no one found it.
A month after the original post was made the Annon user took the the r/Michigan subreddit page and posted this on May 4th 2022

Regarding the Grand Rapids Treasure
I am very sorry I haven’t been active as of late in responding to messages and comments. I’m not doing too well and have been sleeping a lot.
I am so overwhelmed by the beautiful messages and comments I’ve received from you amazing folks. It really has helped lift my spirits in this time. Seeing the joy this scavenger hunt has brought people has brought light to an otherwise dark time.
Regarding the treasure, it has not been found. Yesterday was the first day in over a week I was able to get out of the house to check, and it was still there.
Out of fear that I may have hid it too well, here are a few more clues: Beware of red herrings - every scavenger hunt worth it’s salt has one (or two). There is a light and it never goes out. And always remember, capitalization is KEY.
I can’t make any guarantee that I’ll be able to get back out and check the status of the treasure in the future, but I do request that whoever finds it please let the community know.
Thank you all for making my time here exciting. You are all such beautiful, amazing people and I wish you all nothing but the best!

This was the Last and final reddit post from the annon user, it is believed that he passed away sometime in May as he stated he had been terminally Ill. Hype around the hunt slowly died off in the summer of 2022 there currently has been no discussion and many people simply do not know about the story also the author did state he was 5'7 and that the treasure was not in a dangerous place.
Here are the reddit Links there was also a local news article that came out.
