Never read much on this verse, but seems to me like old tv phone commercials/ phone references. Maybe it is a hint there is something involving telephone structure/utilities we should be looking at? Telephone poles at a rest area, for example.

I know this is really a big stretch, but flipping the prize necklace picture left to right and spinning it sure favors this calling area map from 1998. I think local areas have changed quite a bit over the years but was wondering if there might of been something similar in a phone book from the day that we could compare to. Anyone have an online Grand Rapids area phone book from the time period?

I like the idea of the telephone polls.
This verse in relationship to the rest of the riddle is oddly placed. It seemingly is giving additional information after the treasure is found or while you are at the treasure location.
My only additional thought is that we are being to told ignore (“don’t let it bother you”) ‘something’ that is related to either the location or the riddle itself.

Telephone poles are either made from pine ( pine trees), fir or cedar
