Even though we see Alto in the verse , Alto is not a city but is an unincorporated community. Grand Rapids is a “City”. For this theory I’ll assume that the city is Alto. Apparently Rockford is also considered as a city. Not sure back in 1981 though. If we go 3 2/3 leagues (11 miles) , west , is that directly west the way the crow flies? or in a somewhat westerly direction? Does “ Freeway” make sense since one travels on roads regardless or is it there to get you to a highway rest stop or a picnic area off the highway? This next part is thinking way out of the box. The way the line in the verse is written it is actually Whey, (Way) first then Free. This might be for the small villages of “Wayland” and “Freeport” just below Alto. In between these two towns is Middleville ( the Omphalos ?) . Middleville is approximately 11 miles from Alto in a direct line. Today there happens to be a dog park there. Back in 1981 anyones guess. It was and still is city property though. There is a turnaround in that piece of land today and back in 1981. Some structures are still there like the water tower and some buildings. Now looking at the shadow cast by the water tower ( about in the 11:52 position). you see only three supports . Do you cast aside the two “dimist”and dig at the central one. I found these interesting. Personally I still think it’s in the area of the Zeeland 528 rest stop.

It's widely accepted that Grand rapids IS the "city". What is not clear is the starting point. I propose that the starting point should be north of the city. "Low lands will have frost". Remember the game kids play, getting warmer or colder? "Low lands will have frost".

The lowlands then would be Zeeland. I think he is implying that the treasure is in a northern state when he mentions” frost” together with the golden apple tale. That again it could just be a clue for Grand Rapids area. If you go 11 miles west of Grand Rapids then you get to the Grand Valley State University. Did he teach here? I’m assuming one uses the downtown area of Grand Rapids as the central starting point Hwy 196 is a freeway the others like #45 are state highways, not freeways ?
