I'm thinking that the route to this cask might begin or end at McGill Campus.
Polypede is a bronze sculpture and it's name means "many paws". This makes me think of "step on nature cast in copper".
In the same area (James Sculpture Garden) is Exaltation, which looks to me like the shape being made by the hands/fingers of Image 9.
Across the street, Wilson Hall has the stepped facade like the collar in Image 9, but unlike Trafalgar school, Wilson Hall has the inverted shape like the image (the sides step down towards the middle).
As for the leg-eater, the image suggests the leg extending outside of the Golden Square Mile...McGill is right next to this area and the base of the sculpture Exaltation looks just like that extended hoof that is outside the box.

Another issue with this theory is that Polypede wasn’t in the James Sculpture Garden until 2010. At the time the casques were buried the Polypede sculpture was actually located in front of the McGill Faculty of Law on Dr. Penfield Avenue.
Wilson Hall may have inverted steps, but that where the similarities end. Every “step” is a different shape, whereas in the image they are all the same shape. I don’t see how it’s better than Trafalgar, each are flawed in different ways.
