Looking at the paintings/ verse, I think one could apply bird, bird actions to some of them such as singing,( theatre close by park).
Another thing might be that the exact location of the casque is “East “ of one of the objects mentioned in the verse or seen in the painting.
Yes ,a young female is a “bird”, British slang back in the day.
One has to remember that this book was primarily geared to young men and there was no PC ideology back then.
So we start with Quebec City ( Montreal for some), the verse mentions a “wingless bird”. Young girl, ( action, Joan of Arc holding up a sword)
Boston we see a female figure. JJP calls her a Witch .Witches fly (on a broomstick) and baseballs fly through the air. Her nose might be home plate. The female fairy caught the jewel.
Charleston we see the shapely fairy ( think cannons) and she’s got two of those cannons…….cannon balls fly through the air. She’s got wings
St. Augustine has a parrot like bird with the jewel eye, ( birds eye view), and on pg.6 of the book we see that shapely fairy ( cannons). Treasure could be in the main park or two blocks away close to a cannon.
San Francisco, again we have a female figure, ( a bird). Probably for the birds at Spreckels lake. People go there for the view of the birds,( ducks). That’s why the neck holds the jewel, part of her body.
NOLA we see a female arm erupting from the lower part of the painting holding a tour guide stick,( Marie Laveau the Voodoo Queen). Pointing towards the bird,
( The Eagle in Armstrong park).
NYC we see lady Liberty along with an Eagle flying above her . Her black facial construction matches sections of the Eagle at the East Coast Maritime Memorial
Milwaukee we see a female again gazing outward over the sewer system. She is the “bird” with the birds eye view from the lighthouse.
I think BP formulated the verse entirely from the top of the lighthouse and took the photos from there. That would be the only location where you can see the City Hall ,assuming one sees the objects from the park.
Sure he says “walk” but the definition has many meanings
