Decisions at the middle... looks like left or right at the fork end up at the same destination; left has one less waypoint than right?
Why the double-splats? Is that a couple of retro birds being reborn out of the hashes? 😅

Tip:The X's in the playfair decoded text are there to mask double letters and make it harder to automatically decode without the key. Nothing else.

Ok, gonna start in the Arabian desert (Flight of the Phoenix)... Yabba-Dabba Do you think there were Spanish in Arabia? I know the reverse is true. I know the image is a stock photo but the stabilizer is of the Southwest Airlines. Old Spanish Trail maybe.

If you look at the OST map across the land from San Diego, CA to Milestone zero in St. Augustine, FL you'll see a resemblance to the Waypoints map. tinyurl.com/dnr6deaa

Interestingly, in the middle of that diamond above is Centerville, Texas y'all with highway 7 running through it.

Need help finding your way? Trying to figure out that path from the clues in the puzzle text and images is the right next step. Perhaps you can discover the start and end of the path.

The Start: 68 Spanish people? No... El Paso as a start? (it sounds like peso, a coin)
Maybe 'Tail' is a hint, tail of a plane.
