not sure this has ever been discussed, I don't have img, I'll do my best to describe it
was something I found long ago & forgot about it, found again while going through some boxes
I don't remember how I found the info, & had to go searching again b/c my hand written notes
didn't have links/or a source for info took me a couple of months to find info. it's not much
maybe will give someone an idea. anyway here goes

This ornate gazebo with picnic tables was built in 1988. It is a reimagined version of the original Ghirardelli Card Shelter that was constructed
in 1933 but fell into disrepair. The chess-themed bases of the supporting posts are actual remnants of the original structure, which was located
near Alvord Lake. The current shelter remains a prime spot for playing cards and assorted board games.
