The clue has me stumped
Plum period
And the queen coin
Year not important?
Why was there a compass over the year on the scroll?

It has been noted that many of the trees in the area are plum trees. In the poem there is "Down below ~ plum." There is a chance that this is very literal, so a point of interest is either at the base of a plum tree or south of a plum tree (which would be below if staring at a map). I've tried digging around other ideas of plum. In fact one of my early rabbit holes was the NC State arboretum which has a number of plum trees and plants (a second dark rabbit hole was using the OXO to find out that NC State has a school of design). I've also looked to make sure the color plum doesn't have some sort of numeric code (ex. 3468) that would be used to refer to it in computer code or something. No leads in any of that.
As for the year, in the poem there is "A Year can Elude you." (separate question, is there any value in the number of words in a line and lines in each stanza). And when I discovered that the year was covered in the image I thought this was corroboration of that being useful. Maybe 06 was important and so I started trying to figure out how 06 might fill in the question mark for 9.5/3468. I've gotten nowhere with that. But there is another voice in my head that is saying that the "Year can Elude" you might just be a reference to the time limit of the hunt, and the the 06 was covered over because it doesn't actually have any value, and that the comment about the Year not being important is confirming these suspicions.

It may be an abbreviation of Plumb or Plumbum.
Plumbum is the Latin word for lead (Pb). Atomic number 82.
Something that is plumb means it is vertical. It also is used to say something is “trued up” or perpendicular to the ground. Down below ~ vertical (?)

Possible solve for plum period. Plum period is an acronym for "red oil pump". There is a red gas station thing on the playground. If im right than this does not get any closer to the coin, its just another confirmation clue. I am not thrilled about this one but it is the only thing that kind of makes sense so far on this clue.
