For the most part, the clues have been in order as we have worked through the poem. The next two are pretty short and I’ll post them together.
The sixth clue can be found in the fourth stanza and has a backup in the fifth. A backup clue was mandatory here just because the clue is so short.
Similarly, the seventh clue is found in the fourth stanza but has some backup both nearby and a bit in the sixth, again because the clue is so short.
Tarry is a homophone of terry, short for terry cloth in this context. Terry is also the real name of the terrier that played Toto in the original Wizard of Oz. More about this down the road.
The notion of a clue being comprised of something that could be degraded by exposure to the elements or otherwise easily moved is certainly going to be a red flag for many of you. Just table your concern for now; I’ll address it shortly.
