In numerous of his clues and statements ff refers to the ' treasure'.
e.g. The treasure is not associated with any structure
Treasure - tresor (Fr.) - resort
From the above transformation it can be seen that the 'treasure' might be interpreted as referring to a 'resort' , for instance a ski resort like Vail, Colorado.
When seen from this perspective the 'treasure' may be seen to be something different from the 'chest'.
If the treasure is something different from the chest, the clue:
The treasure is not associated with any structure
may still leave the door open to the possibility that the chest is associated with a structure.
Other clues referring to the treasure can be interpreted in a similar fashion.

I have often questioned this myself. Are they both related. Treasures bold to me can mean Eyes or as many have discussed on this forum the many I s in the poem..

As Forrest said at the end of his book OUAW, " I have been criticized for the way I write and say words. I say I too much, mix verb tenses, use commas wrong, and I can't spell." Take that into consideration when reading what Forrest is saying. Then reread TTOTC, and the poem you might see things you missed before. Or maybe not.

It's almost like you need to rewrite the poem yourself and make changes to syntax, order and so on and see what comes out. My problem is, I,m no better than ff when it comes to getting it all correct.

Just be aware of what he said when reading his books.

Syntax are the rules so to say and this poem breaks all the rules in making a map IMO. I like to think that I have better that most people the ability to put random pieces together and understand its meaning. I took the ASVAB test in the 11th grade and scored 98 out of a possible 99. I had no idea what the test was for or anything about it. Just so happens I was in Study Hall and took the test with the Seniors. The recruiters told me I shouldn't have been allowed to even take it since I wasn't a Senior. This test is primarily about reasoning and comprehension and how things relate.

You are free to do what ever you like of course, but I must caution you that the most adamant thing Forrest has said is Don't mess with my poem. There are no cyphers, or codes in it. The poem if solved will lead you straight to the Treasure. It is there, waiting for who ever finds it.

I guess that is a quandary. I suppose deep enough for an electron to fit in

I did super good on the armed services vocational aptitude battery, also. When they found out my dad was in the Navy, and with my test scores, they bugged me for a solid five years after high school.
