We zeroed in on the center part of the south side of Bar Island, at the following coordinates:
44 deg 23 minutes 50 sec North latitude
291 deg 47 min 40 sec East long
(68 deg 12 min 20 sec West long)
p. 19 shows the latitude of the spot
RV license plate = 62-18 = 44 deg N
Count 23 = 23 minutes N
The 50 (mm) on the lens frame shows the smallest measurement = 50 seconds N
(DMS on this page previously discussed as Deg Min Sec)
This passes directly through the south side of Bar Island
PACE FORTY SOUTH
+
“check a second time” at the end of the book
on pp 44-45, there is a 40 MPH (a pace) sign.
On p. 40, the second time = X, identified by the red second hand of the clock
291 deg 47 min 40 sec East long
(68 deg 12 min 20 sec West long)
Also, visually, the middle window pane makes a T, X’s are marking the island. There are 2 and 4 X’s across. Tea 4 2.
(The two Bees on this page = 2 B’s = Bar Island and Bar Harbor)
Note also that the T 4 2 … the bar to Bar Island T’s at the 42 second longitude.
Note: the grids tell us “C MASQUERADE IN HT”. I think it is okay to go to a dictionary, because it could be indicated. “SEE / (the) SEA MASQUERADE IN High Tide” (HT is an abbreviation for High Tide). The water is hiding it during high tide. (this is where hints like the skip 10 (the globe is marked by 10's) code on p. 30 =CLEAN = TIDY come in but not necessary).
We think the glyph could represent a tide clock. The book is 60 page (60 minutes / 60 seconds in Deg Min Sec measurements). The lettering on the front cover border = 60 letters.
We found that the above coordinates lead to the middle of the south side of Bar Island. There is a dock wall where we found “two together” at the 40 second longitude (east longitude). The coordinates are marked by a large X formed by the cross-members of the remaining pier timbers closest to the wall.
1) Forty south from the middle of the pier wall takes one about 100 feet (only paceable during low tide), to the last pier timber. On p. 15 that the “ONE OF FoUR” (one of fur) from p. 17 appears to be referring to the fur tail and cat tails, sticking up from the water (representing the pier timbers).
2) The “forty” (fortlike) cement wall there has holes every 10 feet. In one of the holes, we found the 30 foot Stanley tape measure stashed in the back (this was the 3rd or 4th hole from the west end of the wall), kept in place against the tide by a stack of rocks pushed, 39 second longitude (east) point.
The Master Riddle
We took this as clues presented in the images, on the masts shown
p. 44-45
NEPAL = NorthEast, Pal
To the highest point
The highest point on the pole (mast) is Bar Island (edit, this may be an incorrect interpretation)
There is a point on the pole is also “lookout point” which is pointing to the “40 MPH (a pace)” sign. Note that the actual park highest speed is 35 MPH
Together, the PACE FORTY SOUTH and the 40 MPH sign are huge clues. The south side of the 40 MPH sign corresponds to the south side of an island. Bar Island is the only island accessible without boat (due to the bar being exposed during low tide).
The signs are also indicating slippery (wet) and walk.
“TWO TOGETHER” = Bar Island and MDI held together by the Bar
p. 17
The mast cross-member makes a large X marking the spot. We interpret the clouds to be a perspective shift, actually representing island off the coast.
A measure of gold (p. 11) = a “key” shown large on the page. A key is also a sand / island, as in Florida Keys. ( We think “key” may also refer to a kilogram of gold, the prize.. Not sure about that, doesn’t affect the solve. ). YAKITY YAK on p. 44 … KAY is spelled backwards, another form of the bar island key.
Some text references
“… shake Adam out of Eden” (a dam out of Eden, Bar Harbor = Eden, the Bar to Bar Island dams the water)
The Wind refers to “sub-lime”. Sub-lime color on the map = south side of Bar Island
The Golden Key is a public place (not “IN a public place”), in the Rules. A key can refer to the Bar (as in Florida Keys), going to Bar Island. The image on pp. 44-45 shows a Key underwater. p. 26 image shows an outline of a large water Key, coming from a harbor.
THE KEY TO THE WIND = the Key (sandbar) to the Wind(ing) Bar Island trail)
The chest symbols on p. 7 – “Cross and See / Sea”. Cross the Bar and see.
Note Fandango’s front leg on p. 55 can actually be a pier timber; the foundation of where his foot is, actually resembles the base of the pier timbers. (This would not be too helpful before actually seeing it at the site).
These are some of the reasons we focused on Bar Island. It is included in the map in the back of the book as part of "Mount Desert" (note, the map does not say "Mount Desert ISLAND")
The only other interesting piece we picked up was that the parking lot at Sieur d Monts Spring is shown as an infinity symbol on the map in the back of the book. This is also at 68.12.20 west (40 second east) longitude.

Many many other notes, but rely on external information, for example:
p. 40 - Cottage and Holland (the flowers) in Bar Harbor
p. 30 - Cross on black book spine is same angle as Cross St. in Bar Harbor
We tried not to rely on these types of information, as they were external to the book.
