Dear All,
I have found something remarkable in TTOTC. On page 37 the first word after word number 37 is "bacon".
Applying the bacon cipher acrostically where we let capital letters be "b" and small letters be "a" we derive the four letter word TEWA.
The Tewas only lived in the vicinity of Rio Chama and Rio Ojo Caliente. A famous Tewa site lies right behind Ojo Caliente spa: Posi-Ouinge.

Based on the above deliberate encodings by Forrest Fenn, I make the case that New Mexico is indeed the state where the Chest was hidden.
Crazy enough, the historical spa at Ojo Caliente at what may have been Fenn's "Secret Bathing Spot" went up in a blaze... a month after the chest was found... and a month later he dies...
This is elegant and quite scary. Perhaps you all can find more encodings and share. Codes definitely exist in TTOTC.
