Here's the positioning of all the letters from the verse/illustration pages, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

In order to get to a credible solve, I believe the following clues would need to be put together : 1. PLACE IN ORDER 2. 8 STATES 3. PINETREES 4. CASSEIOPIA
“PLACE IN ORDER” By placing the individual verses in order by letter, the direction of the puzzle seems to make more sense. Thinking of an ‘inverted triangle’ with the first verses putting you in a general area and then the remaining verses narrowing down to a precise treasure location: 1. Verses #1/2- starting City/Highway 2. Verses #3/4- ?checkpoint - rest stop, site marker 3. Remaining verses- site specific instructions
“8 states” - likely referring to 8 states surrounding Great Lakes, also could be states bordering TN, MS or states starting with letter M.
One additional observation here by Brosk, note how “ORDER” wraps around the Great Lakes when superimposed
In order to move forward, I think significant attention should be paid especially towards the first two verses. PINETREES AND CASSEIOPIA are more likely your “treasure map” once you have arrived at the correct location.
Significant attention is being paid towards Michigan but I wouldn’t necessarily rule out any states in the surrounding area. Is there anything in the book pointing towards Michigan?
It might be best to start with a thorough brainstorming session of verses 1 and 2 in a separate thread.

It’s already been confirmed that it’s in Michigan specifically Grand Rapids Martin smith spoke with the author, they are also launching another 40th anniversary book here soon on Facebook also I think the author name is Roy from my research and he lives in michigan

Agreed. Likely in Michigan, Grand Rapids area.
Michigan would also fit the only one of “8 states” that both surround Great Lakes and begin with letter M.
Also, as Goldhunter has noted, Michigan has a part of the state known as “The Sunrise Side”

Hmmm... Roy, huh? Sounds familiar. Sounds like my old theory of Roy "The Elvis Impersonator" who was the Fantasy Press publisher. I hope it was the same guy. All that work would have been worth it!

PLACE IN ORDER is anagram of RED PORCELAIN.

Made a box outlining the letters in ORDER after aligning them near capital stars. This box passes thru eight states. Picked a PLACE in the box using the diagonal's crossing. Not saying this particular crossing is significant, but maybe a more literal way to read: "(a) place in(side) order"?

Since we're playing connect the dots! Using PLACE IN RODER layout Theo posted above, connect the dots for "RED PORCELAIN". You may get a map similar to Manhattan Park. Notice a couple of X's. North corner and Sledding Hill.

North corner and Sledding Hill. If I had any reasonable computer skills I'd try overlaying the lines onto the satellite image of the park, just to see if anything lined up. Nice to see a couple of X's, old-school treasure hunt style!

Thanks choice, that's awesome. It looks as though it lines up quite well on the map.
