After much rereading and pondering I still come back to the Zeeland rest stop area . The rest stop so happens to be 11 miles from the Grandville on ramp to I 196 heading west, so this fits the verse 11 leagues and 2/3 more and Grandville is a city. What we don’t know is if there are any red herrings in the puzzle. I still think why would he put a line in the book that says even a twelve year old could figure it out. It makes me think again of Middle school and Middleville, or a school near by. The difficult part is incorporating the star map into the equation, since you can expand the image or contract it , then you get a different location to dig at. Now the author said he can see the location when he drives by. So it has to be something that hasn’t changed in the last 41 years. Also the Zeeland rest stop has a dog run area and probably had one back in 1982. Again this is all theory but still worth checking out in my opinion.

OK, more thoughts. Cam , ( the author), majored in university math. He mentions that a 12 year old could figure out the puzzle. They teach 12 year olds, ( grade 7), Pythagorean math. Angles and length, right angle triangles .This might play a part in the solution to the dig site. Maybe the green line will give you the numbers to figure out the height of the pole but we use the red line to determine the distance from the pole since we would now know the height of the pole and the angle made by the red line thus with a bit of calculating get the distance from the pole. I did some superimposed images with the night sky over the 11:52 clock and that telephone pole at the end of Riley Street. Interesting how the lines coincide. The red line is a line from the Cassiopeia alpha star through Polaris. The Pole. From the images posted above, you can see the shape of a telephone pole when drawing lines through the 3 Cassiopeia stars. Notice the hand of the individual is by his head. “or go to your head”. Thinking more on the line “seek a presage”. It has to be a sign the says or implies something bad will happen if you proceed . Something like don’t climb the telephone pole or you might get electrocuted. I can’t see it being a road sign like a Stop sign even though it may be construed as a warning sign it’s more of a directive.

This is a superimposed view looking north ,of the night sky and the telephone pole by the old highway rest stop exit area , by Cascade park. Another thought on the “Place in Order”. Certainly it could mean rearrange the verses but it also might refer to the “telephone “ ie pole, when placing an order for something by phone or maybe a place that’s orderly like a library. Two meanings. “Hands are helpful “

More possibilities. If Cam based the puzzle on the “Masquerade “ puzzle maybe we should be following a similar format. Kit Williams had rabbits and mice pointing out letters in the sides of the pages. So should we try to point things out as well? Apples may not be directly tied to the location but much like the Hares and mice in Masquerade they were just used to point you in the right direction. The clue for the general location of the Masquerade Golden Hare was hidden in the first image. Did Cam do the same or something similar? I think so. Maybe first and last image? Masquerade is definitely worth the read. Lots of red herrings in the puzzle. Probably some in this puzzle. MASQUERADE
Let’s look at some of the verses. Although the Sun rises in the East Lowlands will have frost Tomorrow is another day Over and over again Now most think this entire verse refers only to “Alto” the town. It may, but I think there is more too it. I still think the Lowlands and frost refers to Zeeland ,you have to head west , based on the other verse, but what about those last two lines? We see the line “ Well, tomorrow is going to be another day for us all ”at the end of the Cy’s story. Does it imply something like “the end” of the puzzle? Why would you have the third line in the first verse closely matching Cy’s story at the end? Then Cy goes on to say “ so we had all better turn in soon”. Does this imply a turn around? Now what could the verse line “Over and over again”, imply? Could it be something repetitive? Circular? Rolling? Turning over? or just a repeat of the day. The last line that Nellie says” Would anyone like a piece of apple pie for a bed time snack”. Hmmmm, when I think of pie I think of Pi. Does something like 3.14 fit into the puzzle? More geometry? . Pi ties into the circumference of a circle and is taught in middle school . Pies are round, so is it another reference to a turn around? I think Cassiopeia plays a part in the puzzle, but only in the image on the page and how it relates to other pieces on the page. In the story ,at the end, it mentions the full autumn moon yet in reality ,the image shown of Cassiopeia in the sky is for June. Might be a red herring? The brothers hid the apple on the first tree in the second row. The second row of trees points to the lone tree in front of the house. Much like the way animals point in the masquerade puzzle, maybe the apple tree is used to point The above images are the first and last ones. That with which you’ve seen to be so Use as a map in the rain, wind, or snow What this verse is telling me is that you’ve seen it in the puzzle and it’s the postal Zip code. The postman delivers through inclement weather The only Zip code you see happens to be for Grand Rapids Mi. Grand Rapids seems to have different divisions in the greater area, that’s why I chose Grandville as my city starting point

Here are more thoughts. “ Seek a presage to give you a clue. Three are 2’s and Two are 3’s” The term presage means a sign that there is impending doom. I doubt it’s a stop sign , no impending doom there, just a directive. Now is the sign in the image? I think it is . Is it the Indians hand which may represent a Stop sign with a 30 inscribed on it ? No I think we have to look further. Look at the horses rear END and you see an image of a bird, a bird head with an “I”, eye shut, a DEAD bird. So much like we derive “freeway” from the one verse I think we can derive Dead End from the image. So the presage would be the DeadEnd, the end of Riley Street. Now that’s more like “ impending doom”. The 3 are 2s (2+2+2) and the 2 are 3s (3+3), both equal 6 the last number in 56 , the road number that intersects Riley Street. Or is this a math quiz to get to the exact dig spot. Now if three ( 3 are 2’s), sides of a triangle are equal ( 2, 2,2) an equilateral triangle and you want to find the area ( Pythagorean math). Next math quiz … if you know the two sides of a right angle triangle (2 are 3’s ),then the length of the hypotenuse (3 squared plus 3 squared equals square root of 18, the length of the hypotenuse). So is this the distance you probe from the telephone pole? Now Manhattan park and the elementary school that use to be there looked interesting, but the area that had the turnaround for the school is now covered with asphalt. I doubt it’s there since Cam stated that he drives by it and can see it. So the treasure still has to be available. Cascade park is a maybe. The old Cascade rest stop there is questionable. Well I’m tossing out more ideas here. Most are looking for pine trees , Im looking for a more permanent “pine “object.
Now not sure if area plays a part but I thought I would toss this in

I believe the author stated that it’s not located on any private property, and that to me looks like it would be considered private property over there

I don’t know if one considers the road ( end of Riley Street),and ditch area as “private property “, since the State owns it and the public can use it. Sort of like a rest stop or park owned by the State or Municipality, or City etc. Generally speaking there is also a road allowance of 66 feet ( your two 6’s… ? ), for most of these roads. The turnaround itself changes a bit over time , so I think you have to use the telephone pole as a reference point and measure from it in someway to get to the treasure.

Still more. Does one really think that we should be digging at 11:52 pm or 11:52 am ? Your not going to see a shadow cast at night if we are supposed to be using those numbers for time. The verse mentions “ If your clock stops” so I think he’s referring to the specific time in the image. So here are some possibilities. Using the Sun Calc site we can estimate where to dig. The height of the telephone pole I’m guessing is about 5 meters,(approximately 15 feet). Might have to go to the actual area and see where the end of the shadow made by the pole lands. I’m using a couple of different dates in 1982. The length of the shadow will vary. Now here in is a bit of a problem. We can see what looks like a shadow cast by the pole in Google Earth but the length of that shadow is huge. So I would go to the site for 11:52 am and see exactly where that shadow lands on the ground. I could be way off on the height of the pole I think the shadows cast on Google Earth may be distorted or the Sun Cal site is incorrect. I think the problem lies with Google Earth when I look at the shadow cast by the tower by the turn around. Still you get the idea.
It more approximates May 7 th when it comes to the time and direction .

“ Graviety is important. So don’t treat it lightly” Gravity , what goes up must come down. Usually in a straight line when talking about gravitational forces on an apple. So the letter “R” , ( beside the apple), is directly above the letter “L” and the letter “ Y” in the painting. The “L” and “Y” also happen to be the first and last letter in the last word “ lightly”.

If you are looking for the word "Riley" there is a case to say it can be found here too:

That looks like a reasonable hidden clue, another Riley. Could be a hidden “Riley” on each drawing Does a dog live the “ life of Riley”? Could be why all the dog images in the trees, or are they Spy apples? Well it’s either one has to use the power pole as a guide or the central point of the turnaround,(Omphalos) to get to the treasure.
