UPDATE

I received multiple submissions overnight! Some were just partial, so I'm not sure what incident/ location/ event they are referring to, and some that were incorrect. Because all these submissions can become overwhelming and confusing, I am adding the the following stipulations:

1. Limit submissions to one per day (24 hours).

2. Please use the same message to correspond, so I have only one message thread per player

3. Please submit answers to all 8 questions with each submission.

There is a twist to this hunt that I will reveal when I have enough correct answers for the prizes I have. That twist will have to wait until the hunt closes, but do not give up even if you feel confused! :-)

It seems there are already a lot of ghost hunters on top of this early! Have fun and Good Luck!

Q. Is the story from American or a different country?

A. For right now, I am not going to answer this question. I will post clues after the hunt has been up for a while if needed, and I'll include this to help narrow your search.

Are you going to still respond with how many out of the 8 lines we get right even if the large answer is wrong?

I just want to address a couple of questions to clarify. 

1. I have had a few answers where each line is interpreted as a different story. But this hunt, all of it, is about just one story. Each line is part of that story, like key points, or the highlights.

2. To answer retro's question, Yes, I will continue to say how many lines of your answer are correct. But if you don't have the correct story, it is unlikely you will get them right. If, by chance, you do get a line correct, I will tell you you have one line right, but not which line.

I will post the first clue on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31.

First clue to the Halloween Hunt:

This story is located in the United States, and it is not a work of fiction. It is/was a real place and a true tale of specters and hauntings(depending on whether or not you are a believer, of course).

I have received a few answers that surprisingly contain details that fit with each line, but that are not correct. Thank you for sending them in. I am always amazed at how many stories I was unaware of that fit my hunts.

I am now accepting answers whenever you want to submit them, and you don't have to wait for me to answer to submit additional attempts. Just keep them in the one  message thread and I'll read them all when I open it. I will let you know when you have submitted the correct answer. No need to wait 24 hours (or for me) anymore :-)

If anyone is working as a team, please let me know, and if you win a prize, let me know which member of the team will receive the prize.

The original version of the hunt had 9 lines, but I was afraid it might make the final answer too obvious, so I removed it. Now I am adding it back as another clue...
