Hello!
My donation is to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ME)
I have a few hunts in the works for this Masquerade Tribute hunt, and my first mini hunt will be posted on February 1st.
addendum... After seeing Beth's introduction, I realized I should have included one for myself! So here it is:
As most of you know, I go by Forgotten History Hunts (or FHH) here on Mysterious Writings. My first treasure hunt was ... Masquerade! I think that dates me, but I remember having encyclopedias spread out all over the floor, many trips to the library, and stacks of notes on lined paper. My friend and I worked long hours into the night. We never solved it, but we had so much fun and I was hooked! I still have my original book. Over the years, I have made treasure hunts and scavenger hunts for my family, friends, and co-workers. Life got in the way for a number of years, but my interest was rekindled when I heard about The Clock Without a Face. Starting on the Tweleve forum, then moving to Mysterious Writings, I have made many friends in the treasure-hunting community.
Stuck at home during Covid, and with a lot of free time, I decided to try my hand at making some hunts on my own in 2020. Jenny was kind enough to set up a MW section for me, and I've been making them ever since. Mostly armchair, occasionally BOTG. Everyone on the forum has been wonderful and supportive, so thank you all for that! Along with Beth, this will be my 4th year contributing hunts and prizes to the Masquerade Tribute hunt. It's been a great way to combine fun treasure hunts with raising money for charities!
The animal shelter I donated to is local and receives many cats, dogs and other animals both locally and from other areas of the country. I do what I can to help support them and now that I am animal-free for the first time in my life, I may be paying them a visit soon :-)
My Masquerade hunt this year will be totally armchair and (hopefully) all on one page. It is still under construction, so I don't yet have a title. As I mentioned above I will be contributing two "mini" hunts between now and March 21. Anyone will be able to play my hunts, but I will require a receipt for your charitable donation in order to win a prize, so be sure to donate soon and make a copy of your receipt. And don't forget to say "hello" here on this thread to be eligible for Jenny's random drawings.
This should be another fun year, so sharpen those pencils, get a fresh pad of paper, make sure your computer is working (it isn't 1979 anymore!) - and get ready for the fun to begin :-)
-FHH

Hello Everyone! I am Beth, the creator behind the Art of Hidden Messages. Some of you also know me by Genetic Blend, the name that I go by when I am your competition as a treasure hunter. I started treasure hunting twenty years ago! It seems like a long time ago, but at the same time, it seems just like yesterday. My first hunt was, “A Treasure’s Trove”, which remains one of my favorite hunts! I have made many friends on the forums over the years. Some of these friends I have had for 20 years! (You know who you are!) I have had the opportunity to meet some fellow treasure hunters, and there are yet some that I would love to meet in the future. This is a fun hobby and there are a lot of wonderful people involved in treasure hunting. This is my fourth year as one of the armchair treasure hunt creators for The Masquerade Tribute. This year, my hunt will be called, “The Hunted”. It will be fully armchair. The clues will all be hidden in one very detailed pencil drawing. It features an animal. In past years, for the Tribute Hunt, participants have requested that we have an animal charity available to them. This year, you can donate to the charity of your choice! If you want an animal charity, but can’t decide, or don’t know which one is a good one to choose, I have two that I can recommend. These are two places that are local to me. They are small facilities where you can adopt a pet. I have used both over the years to adopt cats who have become members of our family. And I know these smaller facilities can use all the help they can get. So if this is something you might be interested in, here are the names and websites for two places. And they both give receipts, which are needed if you win a hunt. Please note: You will not be given any extra hints if you donate to one of these places. So good luck to you all! And I hope you enjoy this year’s hunts! Animal Friends (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) www.thinkingoutsidethecage.orgAngels for Animals (Canfield, Ohio) www.angelsforanimals.org/donations-memorials
