Well it could be Google earth. But it also could be the big picture on a bulletin board. At a National park. This is also a good map and it is a big picture.

The bit where fresh water gets involved is at the point where the warm water stops flowing north, cools, sinks and starts flowing back south as cold water.

Can’t imagine Forrest kayaking back and forth twice. I now it's a Wild Goose Chase. If the weather and conditions are perfect (where warm waters halt) and FF took two trips from his car (not to far, but too far to walk) to "put in" the kayak (just below the home of Brown) it would be a smooth paddle in the lake (no paddle up your creek because it's not a creek). When one get near one starts to see the rock formation underneath the island. It gets shallow here. One needs to meander around the under rock to hit the island. It's a possibility and only a theory. But what a cool place to be in the middle of everything and no one to stumble upon you.

I have been to glacier national Park and it was quite the hike to get down to the waters edge. I could see goose Island off in the distance. I can’t imagine Forrest hauling a kayak down to that lake. There are areas closer to the waters edge but he would have to kayak even further down and around to get to the island. That seems way too hard for someone that is 80 years old.
