I am one to believe the WWWH is not a random selection of the 1000 sources of warm water north of Santa Fe. Rather I believe the kid approach is important in this clue. It is more literal and puzzle oriented. When one finds it they will know they have broken the paradigm. Totally agree, Wolf. Since no warm (or hot) spring in the four-state area is any more special or unique than the others, then the most sensible conclusion is that none of them is Forrest's WWWH.

Thinking out of the box here, what if where warm waters halt is actually - WWW. for World Wide Web? I have been kicking this around in the back of my head for a few days now. This is my focus (rabbit hole) for tonight's research.
Any thoughts?

NPSbuilder: yes World Wide Web was considered almost from the beginning. From Dal's:

“Here are Forrest’s own words on that, in reply to the question from me: “…sometimes you can overcook a solution by thinking too much. I am a simple man and www never entered my mind.”
“I’d say that’s pretty straightforward. I was hooked on that angle for a while, but I hope that by posting it here, he’ll get less email about it. Lord knows the man gets enough email…”

Think in lines with a child's environment. At what age are we looking at?
When their bath water gets cold. When the sink water doesn't get warm. When you flush the toilet when Dad's in the shower (in an hold house). Outside hose in the summer runs cold after it runs for a while. Then drink the cold water. Summer to Fall to Winter Paint in colors from warm to cold water When warm waters get cold When all the warm water is gone

Compared to ff I would be willing to bet that most of us are kids to him. For me, I was thinking 4 - 7 years old depending on the kid.

A child would imagine the warm waters being alive and commanded to halt. Like Mickey Mouse with his wizard hat on commanding the water to perform with his wand in hand with music. video.disney.com/watch/sorcerer-s-apprentice-fantasia-4ea9ebc01a74ea59a5867853

I think it's the imagination part that the kids can help with. Like features on Google Earth that look like animals & such.

Correct, If you are brave and in the wood, could be a image of a bear on google earth. reminds me of the song "Going on a bear hunt". We're goin' on a bear hunt (We're goin' on a bear hunt) We're going to catch a big one, (We're going to catch a big one,)I'm not scared (I'm not scared) What a beautiful day! (What a beautiful day!) Uh-uh! Grass! Long wavy grass. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy! Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt... Uh-uh! A river! A deep cold river. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it! Splash splosh! Splash splosh! Splash splosh! Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt... Uh-uh! Mud! Thick oozy mud. We can't go over it, We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it! Squelch squerch! Squelch squerch! Squelch squerch! Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt... Uh-uh! A forest! A big dark forest. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it! Stumble trip! Stumble trip! Stumble trip! Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt... Uh-uh! A snowstorm! A swirling whirling snowstorm. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it! Hooo wooo! Hooo wooo! Hooo wooo! Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt... Uh-uh! A cave! A narrow gloomy cave. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. We've got to go through it! Tiptoe! Tiptoe! Tiptoe! WHAT’S THAT! One shiny wet nose! Two big furry ears! Two big goggly eyes! IT’S A BEAR! Quick! Back through the cave! Tiptoe! Tiptoe! Tiptoe! Back through the snowstorm! Hoooo woooo! Hoooo woooo! Hoooo woooo! Back through the forest! Stumble trip! Stumble trip! Stumble trip! Back through the mud! Squelch squerch! Squelch squerch! Squelch squerch! Back through the river! Splash splosh! Splash splosh! Splash splosh! Back through the grass! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy! Get to our front door. Open the door. Up the stairs Oh no!

Looking at stanza one and if I was a child reading the poem I would be hiding my secret and treasures under my bed.
Where would you all hid your secret and treasures has a kid?

If anyone can find the exact quote of give it to a child or kid that would be helpful. I spent significant time searching and that quote is often taken out of context or has more implied meaning than the original. With that said, if the poem needs to be looked at in a simplistic literal manner. I think of Hymie (Get Smart) the robot type literal thinking and apply that to Where Warm Waters Halt.
If you put aside what our intuitive brain seems natural, and totally look at this answer from a kid/child perspective, what answer do you see? I found a very obvious one and funny enough it happens to fit my WWWH location, but did not realize it until I dwelled on it longer. Nailing it down is important, if you follow the star. I wrote the detailed answer to that one on my searcher's blog if anyone is interested.
