It is believed by most that Image 1 matches with Verse 7

Many moons ago I interpreted the 11 moons as way-markers of the journey to the cask. My verse would be the reversed verse seven because of the reverse Gh and the clock compass has E and W flipped. So at the stonewall's door air smells the sweet smell of success! So we start from the smallest moon, Giant pole (Coit tower) and end up at the large moon as shown on the image and list below. Note that I need help with the 8th marker. BTW this is a Freemason's technique of laying out structures on the ground; as above, so below. The structures are directly below the moon as specified and numbered below. imgur.com/BxBrj86.jpgList of identified way-marker moons: 1. Coit tower 2. Marconi memorial 3. Peter & Paul church 4. Joe DiMaggio playground 5. Columbus Ave. 6. Fisherman’s Wharf sign 7. Maritime Museum 8. --- 9. Black Point tunnel 10. Ghirardelli clock tower 11. Area outlined between ferry arch (pier 43) and Galileo observatory

Thanks for adding me as a member! My interest is The Secret and I've been hooked since the Expedition Unknown episode. I've been contributing on George's podcast page, but nice to have another place to share ideas as well. Not into Facebook and many of the other boards don't accept new members so places to share ideas are limited. Been working on all the puzzles, but believe I had a major breakthrough with San Francisco, Image 1 Verse 7. Most of it is my own findings, but there are a few lines of others that I liked and agreed with and have tried to credit those people as well.
At stone wall’s door – q4t user erexere pointed out that “The Thinker demonstrates perpetual ponderance as an expression of the idiom, to be at a stone wall”. I agree with this assessment…the large arch leading to The Thinker at Legion of Honor satisfies this line. This is also supported by Robert Stroud posing as “The Thinker” on page 127. Also note the “24” above the window in the page 127 image, Legion of Honor was completed in 1924 and opened to the public.
The air smells sweet – Legion of Honor was a gift of Alma de Bretteville Spreckels, wife of a sugar magnate. Back in 2011 q4t user erexere used word play to point out “the heir smells sweet”….Spreckels husband was the heir to a sugar fortune, so that satisfies that line. There is also an “A.B.” on Alibi Elf’s left hand (I originally mistook this for A.P. and went down the Aquatic Park rabbit hole) as well as another “A.B.” on Alibi Elf’s left pant leg…both Alma and her husband had the initials A.B.
Not far away High posts are three – If you look out front of the Legion of Honor there are these large 3-lobed light fixtures on posts. The Japanese translation said that the posts are made of wood. If we can confirm these large 3-lobed light fixtures were on wooden posts in the early 1980s (I can’t see why they wouldn’t have been as metal and concrete posts weren’t really a thing back then) that would satisfy those lines.
Education and Justice For all to see – It was suggested that Education and Justice being capitalized was code for El Cid and Joan of Arc who fit those descriptions and are out front of the Legion of Honor, so these lines are satisfied.
Sounds from the sky – I figured out these were the voices of angels and saints that Joan of Arc heard and led to her being burned at the stake. So this is a clue to the Joan of Arc statue and satisfies this line. One thing that may also satisfy the mysterious “G h” in image 1 is that the architect of the Joan of Arc statue has his name carved in the base. G Albert Lansburgh….starts with Capital G and ends with a small h, and would been seen backwards if standing at the Joan of Arc statue looking towards El Cid from her perspective. This is just crazy, but Mark Twain wrote “Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc”….ever read the book? I guarantee you Byron did!!! That novel mentions a dragon of brilliant blue color with gold mottlings, just like Image 1!!!!
Near ace is high – so many people have tried to use Highway 1 or 101 with this but that would be “ace is low”. In Blackjack and other card games, ace is high means 11. Just out of curiosity I looked up the layout of the Lincoln Park Golf Course and damn near fell over. The tee box for the 11th hole is right behind the Joan of Arc statue!!! Holy crap!!! Consider that line satisfied. I can’t recall who said it, but someone recently said that the 11 “moons” could be golf balls, not a bad thought!
Running north, but first across – El Cid’s horse is running north, and El Cid has a cross hanging off his neck…so consider that line satisfied.
In jewel’s direction Is an object Of Twain’s attention – the first thing you need to realize is there is more word play. Twain actually means twin or pair and in this case you have 2 statues of people on horseback by sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington. The Joan of Arc statue is oriented perpendicular to the El Cid statue so that she is staring at him. El Cid is the object of Joan of Arc’s attention. So the jewel is west of the Joan of Arc statue toward El Cid! Consider those lines satisfied.
Giant pole Giant step – you need these items present to have a fighting chance at finding the casque and El Cid has both, so consider those lines satisfied.
To the place The casque is kept – nobody can say for sure until the casque is unearthed, but based on the clues given the casque should be buried on the north side of the statue right in line with El Cid’s spear tip and his horse’s raised hoof. This is where I would dig.
Without a casque in hand its hard to say its the EXACT solve, but I've shown at the very least we can confirm that the Legion of Honor is the location of the San Francisco casque. There is just too much evidence to deny it. My favorite was finding the blue and gold dragon in "Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc" by Mark Twain, binds Image 1 with Verse 7 and Legion of Honor!!!

Hey Sluggo, during the high tide that whole area gets flooded and would be under water; not mentioning storms. I really don't think he'd hid it in a volatile place that would get washed away. Here's an alternative spot close by. I'd like to point out a few observations: It's commonly agreed that the image is for Chinese emigration; existence of Chinese dragon, Chinese style wedding gown and story of Prince Yi. This is the story of Chang’e AKA PinYin, goddess of the moon. Similar mythical goddess as Greek Artemis and Roman Diana, goddess of moon, chastity, and hunt (uses bow and arrow). Key words: Cathay, chaste, bow, Golden, silver moon, pearl, dragon Here are a few clues from the image: Word DIANA is spelled out on her gown with a couple of exceptions: 1. Letter D is replaced with Greek Δ (delta) 2. Letter N is replaced with X as in marks the spot. This could mean a couple of things!: 1. X (dig spot) is where the letter N should be as shown on image (back of the statue behind the stag) 2. Or this substitution is a hint to go (N); X is North. • North in the image would bring us to foot of the Stone door at Sutro (fits reverse verse 7 solution) • North on the map would be USS San Francisco Memorial (Pearl Harbor connection) Due north from Diana’s statue is USS San Francisco. This site has a couple of interesting features!: 1. This is at the Lands End, at the gateway of SF Bay or Golden Gate. 2. Resemblance of this spot to the location of pearl in image that includes: • Golden pearl (POV of flag-pole ball) • Halo around the pearl is not round but hexagonal looking • Curved trail below the pearl The moon theme and the words Giant lead me to “Giant leap”, no don’t jump but the spot may be close to the trail. Roman numerals on her gown and Roman goddess Diana, the whole Roman connection in a Chinese puzzle may be a clue to Golden Gate. I’ll explain!: 1. Chinese dragon on her gown is made of stone blocks; a stone wall, perhaps reference to the Great Wall of China. 2. Similar wall in Roman era is the Constantinople’s Golden Gate. The gate and the structure around it on top of the image resemble some of images I’ve looked up. www.livius.org/articles/place/constantinople-istanbul/constantinople-photos/constantinople-golden-gate/You may find this helpful: quest4treasure.co.uk/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=770&sid=dc584db23dee066fd8a9baeaf3124138&start=3846

i will be heading back to Mile Rock Beach as soon as there is a negative low tide around midday. Novemberish i think. i want to test the split rock pyramid rock alignment which is well above the tidal line. but i have to test my original solve as well of course. I will check back on this when i am ready to go. need to walk a bit more to get ready for those stairs!

Keep in mind that in the early 80s coordinates to places were not readily available. Computer technology was TRS 80 by Radio Shack or IBM 8 bit PC. Forget internet, just a few bulletin boards in the 90s. You could find coordinates on more detailed maps again not widely available to public. A visit to library might've helped but rough coordinates and not to seconds. That's probably why images normally show 2 long and 2 lats for a rough area; i.e. between 37-38 and 122-123. I wouldn't chase after minutes and seconds.

MRB, and i really like the elegance of your solve. onward.

I'm familiar with the symbols mentioned. However the ones I've seen are from NOAA's site and they are modernized. Haven't seen ones from 80's. If you can post an image of the map symbols section from then would be cool.

Definitely buried at the Legion of Honor. You can't just ignore the “Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc” clue, the book mentions a dragon of brilliant blue color with gold mottlings, just like JJP painted in Image 1...thats no coincidence. Once you see it you can't unsee it. It's already been shown in other verses that Byron used clues from classic novels. I've got a good match for the "6:00" alignment that is part of the Image 1 Verse 7 solve: Notice how the verse ends with 4 lines that start with GGTT? That isn't random, but rather another clue to the Legion of Honor. They stand for Golden Gate and The Thinker, the Golden Gate Bridge being North at the 12 postion and The Thinker being South at the 6 position. I like the casque being buried near the base of the El Cid statue "Giant Pole Giant Step", but the base of the Joan of Arc statue "Sounds from the Sky and "Object of Twain's attention" is another good possibility.
EDIT: Just to expand on the Joan of Arc clues - she is the patron saint of soldiers and Legion of Honor was built to commemorate Californian soldiers who died in WWI.
Linda Spaulding over on the S.F. Facebook page brought up a good point about why the "6" at the curl in the dragons tail? If you believe that the curls just above the "6" are a cursive small j, there is a resemblance that gives you j6 and Joan of Arc was born January 6th.
With "G Albert Lansburgh" carved into the base of the Joan of Arc statue to satisfy the backwards G h in Image 1, would be a good spot to probe/dig right in front of that name as that is how the pearl is positioned in the image.
This last one might be out in left field but I'll toss it out there: The blue around the pearl...at first I thought it represented water, but now wondering if its a halo as Joan of Arc became a saint.
