a quick question regarding your method of imput. Did you do every sequence from 200 to 999? As i only got to 600 so far and personally was never sold on 313 i would like to continue on to other possibilities. Ive personally been trying every possibility even ones i know are unassigned (just in case).if youve already done that i dont see the point in continuing as i trust your very diligent in your efforts. Im going to continue pluging away this month on all Michigan area codes starting from the southwest of the state moving across and finally north but im going to use the other option not 4566 . I did all the possible prefixes for the 313 area code. They start at 201 and end at 999, and if I recall correctly there were 632 of them. That was a lot of grinding, but to me personally worth the effort. At least I know what I can eliminate. I notice very few are doing similar work themselves. I know its long, tedious and boring but until there is a significant breakthrough its the only way we will progress. Whats the saying 'many hands make light work'? I suspect, as with many hunts, there are a good few lurkers waiting to pounce on a solution found by others, but actually not willing to put the work in themselves. Doesn't bother me one bit because if I do find the solution it will only be shared with the few here that have worked together from the start, it certainly will not be posted here for everyone to see. Actually, I just am interested in solving treasure hunts, and I don't believe that brute forcing it is a good way to solve the clues. I think it's boring and lame, and hate any time that a hunt is solved because of brute force like that. This is why I am not offering to help run numbers; I think that the hunt should be solved because we understand, not because we have time on our hands to type in digits all day (or design a program that will do it for us). Also, I'm really starting resent how much you are trying to call out lurkers; it's not actually going to make them want to participate, which should be the goal, shouldn't it? That we all contribute? Or maybe that's why you're doing it, to try to intimidate people into being silent so maybe you will get the answers first?

I've never believed the solution to the fifth stanza was simply 4566. I have come up with a handful of feasible options that take into account the whole text of the stanza. I almost didn't want to ask about C6 because I felt like being on a different track gave me an edge above the 4566-ers, but it was also good to have some confirmation that I read those punny clues correctly from the beginning. For now, I'm going to give more thought to the 4th stanza and try to think outside the box. No brute force for me either. I'm all about the mental journey, not hacking a solution.

So you all truest don’t use dcode or similar sights? I bet we all here brute force ciphers. There’s no real big difference in my mind. Find the answers anyway you can. I’d hit his website with an auto typing hack to run from 0000000001 - 9999999999 if I knew how to. Who cares how you crack a safe in the end? It’s all about what’s inside. Don’t worry Lukas, I’m not hacker and have zero clue how to do those things!

But being we appear to be at a standstill, and the format of the monthly questions prevents us from actually getting answers to the question(s) we really want answered. Are you prepared to sit idly by and wait for a 20 questions solution or wait for someone else to make a breakthrough, I'm not. I did that as a proof to myself that 4566 is NOT the final solution to stanza 5 (if my solutions to the other stanza's are correct). I have a pretty strong idea of what the answer to stanza 4 should be but was beginning to doubt my idea. Unfortunately doing what I did was the only way to check whether my idea for stanza 4 was valid or not. It now appears that I might not be chasing wild geese. I could have remained silent, but what if someone else had contemplated doing the same. I posted to save someone else hours of work had I not posted it. Thats not the act of someone being selfish or someone trying to intimidate. I share what I can, both what has worked for me and what has not for others peoples benefit. As for the lurkers, you appear to have a chip on your shoulder, I was not accusing you. Have you actually watched the forum activity? There are a number of people who login, read the forum on a regular basis, but never post.

I'm getting way ahead of myself here.
I know I get to spend this month not having to guess about the correctness of C4F5C6E6. This doesn't change the fact that I've already attempted numerous solve attempts using the C4F5C6E6 answer; including more than just the obvious 4566 application. Again we don't get any positive feedback until all three parts of KEY 1 are accurate and combined together. 4566 could actually turn out to be correct, maybe.
By assuming Stanza 5 produces a 4 digit answer (remember Lukas correcting the stanza by adding the comma so that it would be interpreted as 4 distinct parts), and also assuming Stanza 3 is a 3 digit area code (Lukas did use the word "call"), then Stanza 4 would have to be the 3 digit number in a phone prefix. I personally have a FULLL arsenal of 3 digit numbers all influenced by various bowling scores, turkeys, golden turkeys, spares, sports terms, eagles, double eagles, albatross, coins, currency bills, airplanes, google map searches, and I forget what else... I've tried them all without any apparent success.
And these are just my experiences with trying to unlock KEY 1. If you take into account everybody's attempts at unlocking KEY 1, then you'll notice 3 predominate patterns.
1. I wouldn't be surprised if all of us combined have probably input at least 1,000,000 or more valid guesses
2. Not 1 person (that we know of) has unlocked KEY 1
3. I'm sure there are exceptions to this, but I would guess most of us are focusing on the 313 area code for our solves.
So here's my point:
Maybe it's the 313 area code that's throwing us all off? Maybe it's time to ask this question when December gets here:
"Is the answer for Stanza 3 = 313"?

I would agree with this. Getting conclusion on stanza 3 is almost as good as getting a good clue about stanza 4. At least we will have enough information to know whether a potential solution for stanza 4 is right or not with the aid of the key checker. For stanza 4 I have some pretty solid ideas, BUT many of them dictate that the split in digits is not 3/3/4 (3 digits from stanza 3, 3 digits from stanza 4, 4 digits from stanza 5) It would be very hard to ask a specific question about stanza 4 without potentially wasting a valuable clue. Getting confirmation for 313 would be a better use of the next clue

I agree. Eliminating or confirming 313 would be huge.

Hi! Self-proclaimed lurker here! I tend to only post when I feel that I have something of value to extend. I also recognize that there are people who post very infrequently or never at all for a number of different reasons. Maybe they don't have any new ideas they feel are worth sharing; maybe they don't feel comfortable posting due to social anxieties; perhaps they don't want to be shamed by other posters who feel their ideas aren't "valid theories". Whatever the reason, the whole point of a treasure hunt like this is the fun of the solve so I couldn't care less if there are "lurkers" reading the forum and getting ideas from it. That's the whole point of the forum. So to any lurkers: feel free to take and use as many of my ideas as you want!
Along those lines, as it is the fun of the solve that I enjoy most about hunts like this, I also haven't been brute-forcing anything. To be frank, not only does that take the fun out of it for me, but I just simple don't have the time. If that makes me someone whom is: "actually not willing to put the work in themselves", then so be it.
As far as theories go, I've still been playing around with the idea that the first three numbers could be 989, which is the area code for Bambi Lake, Michigan (which I mentioned in another thread previously). Perhaps that's something people may want to play around with using their other stanza solves.

I've just spent some time on the Stanza 5 thread and I'm bringing a thought over from what I posted there:
"Lukas, can we have the equivalent to a key-tester for each stanza?"
And luna, I'll also incorporate your suggestion, 989, in my key testing exercises... I'll get back to ya'll

I'm a newbie also and would like to say that I have read thru the posts and find that some folks have tried to give ideas and they have been quickly put in their place for not reading the previous posts careful enough. They are told.."We have already been there, done that, got the tshirt. When new people like myself see those things, we tend to be a little reluctant. Just sayin......
I will also say that I'm an ex crypto guy for the military and I'm loving this. My wife thinks I'm nuts but there are a handful of you out there that are seriously putting in the time. I hope one of you gets it and I will be here cheering you on.

Personally i think completely solving stanza 5 is gonna provide fastest path to the solve for the first key. That said im not sure what we could ask to get any clarity on this. I also think asking if stanza 3 is a Michigan area code would be beneficial for two reasons: 1.i think that it would confirm number format (3/3/4) 2.there are only a few area codes for Michigan . Whether the last two lines are referencing a landmark or a city we would know for sure it is in fact in Michigan. It would be awesome to know for a fact that stanza 3 has a small number of possibilities and confirm the number format at the same time. also (the mitten)typically refers to the lower peninsula of Michigan so i think that the upper peninsula is out as far as solve may go. So maybe ask: does the answer for stanza 3 result in a area code for the lower peninsula of Michigan ? Anyway just my 2 cents

So maybe ask: does the answer for stanza 3 result in a area code for the lower peninsula of Michigan ? Anyway just my 2 cents Personally I think thats our biggest problem. Knowing how the 10 digit key is broken up and how many digits are contributed by each stanza. The problem with this hunt, and the mini hunts lukas has set, is getting the solution to a specific stanza might not be enough because he adds twists to the puzzle. TURN (ten, cut ten pins, and turn) could easily mean rotating the numbers, and there's many ways to do that, which would mean even if you had a correct solution to the stanza's you still have to manipulate those answers in some way. The problem with the whole hunt is its an all or nothing enterprise. You could have 99% of it solved but have no way whatsoever of verifying the 99% without using a monthly question, and even then it might take multiple monthly questions to verify your partial solution. I dont like the yes/no format for the monthly questions either. There are lots of question that simply cant be asked that would be useful in guiding us to a solution. I am slowly losing faith in this hunt. I understand its not supposed to be simple, but its got to the point where no progress whatsoever is being made, or it could be that we already have all the solution to the stanzas but have not figured out how to manipulate those solutions, which is even worse because we are wasting time and effort on theories that are wild goose chases. I am beginning to think that we will simply start having to ask is XXXX the solution to stanza X. For instance is 313 the solution to stanza 3. It seems that its the only way we can be definite about anything in this hunt, but we risk this going on for months if we do that.

I think if you're particularly convinced that we must relate ten pins, ten cuts and turn to the corresponding stanzas 3,4,and 5 then perhaps just verifying that with a question might be a good option. Personally i feel that stanzas been solved but im team player and if thats what the group decides would be the best option then ill of course be on board. Ultimately i just want to narrow down possibilities till an answer can be formulated... guess that makes me a 456er lol. I almost would have been offended by that comment if it wasn't so dam funny.

To be totally honest I'm totally torn between the two ideas. Is it simply a telephone number or does the ten cut ten pin and turn mean we manipulate the solutions or that they must conform to a idea (ten cuts = album etc)
And that was the point of my post. Rather than look for additional clues do we simply ask is 313 the solution. Puzzles I don't mind, but puzzles within puzzles without a way to verify the answers to individual stanzas is beginning to drive me mad.
