Look at the Mira Chimera image on page 128. She is pulling on her nylons...GIANT POLE (play on words) and she is taking a step....GIANT STEP....the answer is staring us right in the face!!!
I.....that's a theory.

I.....that's a theory. All joking aside think about it... The other figure is GIANT compared to Mira Chimera as we can only see her legs and there is a POLE and STEP occurring in the image.
The next "Giant Pole, Giant Step" is the casque location and that would place it right underneath the front part of the dress, which could represent the overhang on the speaker tower.
It's actually not that crazy and would explain the shadow next to the pearl in Image 1.
It would also explain the "G h" in Image 1 as the east speaker tower is roughly in line with those letters in the Ghirardelli sign.
There is a small dirt area with a couple shrubs underneath the east speaker tower overhang, that is the place the casque will be....no joke!
Hopefully it can be GPRed or probed without those shrub roots causing too much of an issue.

china beach marker? this is in the scene under the paint running left to right I was under the impression that China Beach has been plundered repeatedly by people whose searches have taken them there. I'm also in the school of thought that, unless it's in a cave or protected area like the Mile Rock theory you have, Priess would have known better than to bury at a beach.

Wouldn't this theory require using the image from the Field Guide not only as a required hint, but as the CENTRAL hint? Regardless.....meh. I don't buy the pole/pull. All the solved puzzles were so incredibly more simple and straightforward.

All the solved puzzles were so incredibly more simple and straightforward. Not necessarily, there is plenty is the image and verse and the Mira Chimera image just helps confirm it.
Image 1 - some of the cutouts around the dragon are said to match the cutouts in the speaker tower base, the barred window would match the cage on the front of the speaker tower, the cable car and cable car turnaround in the image would represent the one at Hyde and Beach, the rose is shaped like Angel Island, the pearl has a shadow that would be similar to one cast by the speaker tower, the squares on her sleeves look like those panels on the ground behind the bleachers, the G and h represent the Ghirardelli sign, the stone wall is the one running behind the bleachers, 11 moons could be 11th president, Polk...plenty of hints in Image 1.
Verse 7 - first 2 lines match Ghirardelli, next 2 match the Balclutha, Education could be either the museum or Galileo High School, Justice is Alcatraz, Sounds from the sky would be the speaker towers, near ace is high could be the casino that used to be there, the object of Twain's attention could be the Eureka, then the last 4 lines make sense from the Mira Chimera image
Alibi Elf - the suitcase handle could represent the speaker tower and casque, the candy between his legs would be for Ghirardelli, the bird has an "R.S." on it, which confirms the man in the cell is Robert Stroud aka "The Birdman of Alcatraz", the fingers on the left hand have "A" and "P' for Aquatic Park
Mira Chimera - this gives you the "giant pull/pole" and "giant step", the shoes have the cutouts like the base of the speaker tower and the legs and bottom of the dress form the shape of the speaker tower
As for the pull/pole thing, we just saw something similar with Boston where "Near those" and "who pass the coliseum" were then put together to read "near those who pass"...which was a clue for the Copp's Hill Burying Ground near where the Boston casque was buried. There is something similar in the North Carolina puzzle as well. I don't think its overly difficult, just a bit of word play and there are indications that Byron had some in the puzzles.
I don't think anything above is incredibly difficult once you are in the right location. The Boston one drove people crazy until the location was revealed and then it all became simple and made sense. The same holds true here.
The area in question under the east speaker tower isn't very large and the only real obstacle may be a few shrub roots. It warrants someone taking a good look here, after almost 40 years what would be the harm?

Okay, now that you've fleshed all that out a bit, I'll admit I'm on your side of the fence. It actually checks a lot of the boxes and I have even more evidence outside what you mentioned that would be in support of your theories I'm going to see how far this rabbit hole goes...

I'm just not sure how you're equating the handle to the shape of the speaker, or the window for that matter. None of these objects look remotely close to each other. Everything else holds though

HOLY SHIT.
Canuck, I'm sorry for doubting you at first - but I just got a rush of new information as I've been digging on all of this.
I will echo the song of my predecessors with "I KNOW WHERE THIS CASQUE IS"
But I think I'm serious. Driving up there first thing tomorrow. I've had my eye on the area for awhile now, but the puzzle pieces just fell into place. It's so simple. Holy shit, we're all dumb.

Wrong speaker tower! Were there any image matches in Boston except for the "homeplate" in the sleeve? Black bird water fountain perhaps. Any image matches that narrows the dig site? Angel Island does narrow the area of search if you consider the two thorns as a directional arrow pointing to where to go. Also the Maritime museum is clearly present. Then there's that black pointy finger on the right side of the image. That's Black Point Pier, also known as pier 4. Next to three long piers, the other 3 fingers. If you draw a line on the map extending that pier in that direction, it connects to the western speaker. Another rebus: Her other hand points to 4 and her index and thumb forms top of a pear; pear 4. [ADDED:] Also small water fountain in the area similar to the one in the book with the genie floating over it. tinyurl.com/yydu7bov

I knew once we started down this rabbit hole you'd be able to find these kinds of things. Look at how Mira Chimera is pulling on the leg....see what's coming off? Look familiar to you? It's identical to Aquatic Park pier. Guys. We've got this

Choice, are you able to find anything in the wing of Mira Chimera? Looks like city blocks to me but I'm no good at this and you're some kind of virtuoso

This is not a new solution. This has been one of my favorites for a long time. Problem is this place is under jurisdiction of National parks and feds don't issue dig permit. Not even probe or GPR. Unless you want to risk federal charges I would stay away! They got eyes in the sky!
