Ok, so obviously the answer to this is 21. But how does that relate?

Ok, so obviously the answer to this is 21. But how does that relate? Interestingly enough - Chapter 21 is the chapter when she first moved to LA and meets the boyfriend who writes the song for her... o might be onto something with the love theme as well

I hate to say it, but I’m losing hope. Maybe it’s just because this is my first hunt, but I’m having so much trouble figuring this out. Now that there’s snow on the ground I’m worried about even finding the right spot considering I’m unsure about my answers. How are the rest of you feeling?

I'm still in the game.
I don't think there have been enough clues released yet to be able to pinpoint the location.
What really surprises me, and makes me a bit angry too, is that all of the clues have been released publicly. So far, it doesn't seem like the book was needed to solve any of the clues. I would have liked this hunt more, if we had to use the book to solve the clues.
Right now, I am just wondering why I bought the book.

I'm waiting for all the clues to be released so I can digest them at a one time reread of the book.

You can't solve clue #5 without the book. The correct answer has not been posted in this forum.

Now that there’s snow on the ground I’m worried about even finding the right spot considering I’m unsure about my answers. How are the rest of you feeling? I wouldn't give up if I were you. Sandra said that we'd most likely need all 8 clues to solve it. So you can give up in about 3 more weeks. But I agree about the snow. I took a BOTG trip a week ago before the first snow storm and my car still got stuck twice. I know from letterboxing that it's hard to move things around even if they aren't buried once temps drop below freezing. Once I went to find a letterbox in the winter and I knew exactly where it was. I was supposed to move a smaller rock to expose a little crevice, but couldn't budge it until the spring.

For the other clues, I'm not convinced you don't need the book as well. "A father's direction," "place of a great tempest," these are all things mentioned in the book that I suspect we need. Just not sure how it all fits together yet.

Honeybee: Don't get discouraged. I'm pretty sure the consensus here was that the treasure is in a hole of a tree, so I would assume snow on the ground would have no effect on finding the treasure. I like to wait until all clues are out and then re-read the book from a different prospective. Good hunts are not meant to be solved right away. Usually you have to go over it for months, a bunch of times, and then you have that "A-ha" moment where things start to fit.

Does anyone know if the rock is actually hidden already? I did a few BOTGs and came up empty, but was wondering if I was possibly in the right spot only she hasn’t actually placed the rock yet. Maybe she is waiting until just before the final clue.

I'm pretty sure the consensus here was that the treasure is in a hole of a tree... I hadn't heard that theory. My guess is it's in a stone wall. That seems more of a crack to me, and there are lots of stone walls in New England.

The first clue pretty much pointed to sticking your hand into a hole of a Maple Tree, and people had mentioned that was the direction they were thinking.

The first clue pretty much pointed to sticking your hand into a hole of a Maple Tree, and people had mentioned that was the direction they were thinking. I don't get that at all from the first clue. She says to start at the maple, then to seek nearby. Nearby could be another tree, a stone wall, a boulder, anything.
