Question posted 6/27/2014: Is any specialized knowledge required to find the treasure? For instance, something learned during your time in the military, or from a lifetime of fly fishing? Or do you really expect any ordinary average person without your background to be able to correctly interpret the clues in the poem? ~mdavis19 No specialized knowledge is required mdavis19, and I have no expectations. My Thrill of the Chase book is enough to lead an average person to the treasure.f . mysteriouswritings.com/questions-with-forrest-fenn-and-the-thrill-of-the-chase/

I agree with Jenny and Me9. It's simple. So will our finder be simple?

If you go back and follow SB 116 this is the kind of person that is going to find the chest. This person will be able to see things that others cannot. He is impressing on us to look past what we see, but he wants us to see. That is the kind of person is that is going to win...

10 years in and many people with lots of resources to do in-depth analysis, etc have apparently been stumped, some people making many many trips....I think it will stay hidden indefinitely. Maybe forever but you never know.

Maybe forever but you never know. I have to disagree, I think that it will be recovered by or before the end of June this year, I think a searcher was close at the close of last season but couldn’t make it happen, I think they were missing an ingredient, I think they needed to let the “sun rise” a little bit more and let the wings spread out just a bit more to see what they were missing. Well let's see. I think the person who finds his chest will be someone unique. They do not fit the societal norm. What I mean by that is that they will most likely live alone, with no family. They are an introvert by nature. No one can truly hunt for this treasure seriously without full commitment...without distractions. You need to focus on everything. Not just the poem. I just don't think that family men or women can do that effectively. Just my 10 cents. Someone unique would also be less influenced by the general consensus. Forrest has stated his disinclination to follow other people's lead or example in many different ways. We're trying to solve a puzzle written by someone who, given a choice between taking the road more traveled or the one less traveled, would leave both roads and head off through the woods. So I think the eventual solver will be someone who embraces the physical solitude of not following the pack, and more importantly isn't bothered by being alone in their way of thinking.

A single solitary person, who has time to study years worth of thoughts quotes, solves, clues, theories. Forrest has said that the blogs should be used for amusement, but there is so many variations of info and constant repairs of scrapbooks videos that makes a person dig and dig. Jeeze I wished I had that kinda time lol. Let the Sun Rise.

The "finder" of the treasure will probably be some rich guy who hired a bunch of people at minimum wage to do the research and retrieve the treasure for him.
You know - how things work in the real world.

You know - how things work in the real world. You mean like Forrest Fenn? LOL That would be an interesting plot twist! A rich guy finds an old parchment with a poem on it and a note there is a treasure hidden in the rockies. Instead of searching for it himself, he hatches a plot where he pretends to be the author of the poem and sets others out on the quest - knowing that the finder will contact him with the location. I think I'll write the novel.
