Probing permit? is that a thing.. I should try that for my Montreal spot.
Problem is I am a Canadian in Canada, a trip is a few grand. Two trips is problematic.. I am confident enough to make one trip with a dig permit.. but it sounds like a dig permit is unlikely.
I have been sitting on this solution for a long time now and with the zombie apocalypse, closed border and permission difficulty I might give up on it.

I got a bad feeling when I noticed they had paved the end of this dirt/gravel pathway at White Point Garden. It's paved maybe 8' back from the steps. It is straight across from the twin stairs and the white house. Good place to bury something without having to damage any grass. I hope someone has probed that area. ![](http://i.imgur.com/TaOgG1x.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/TaOg1x.jpg)

Here's a screwball for you: Why is there reference to White Garden Fountain at Meeting St. in Verse 2? ![](https://i.imgur.com/DbMt02s.jpg)

Gold bug (VW) reference in the image? May be a strong reference to Poe and Sullivan's Isl. Also eyes of the Fort Sumter clock kinda looks like 2 old VW bug rear split window. It's teeth look like VW X 2. Fairy secrets do come in twos! ![](https://i.imgur.com/Gp8iSVE.jpg)

I believe this photo is from the late 70's and shows a few of the landmarks from White point garden. ![](http://i.imgur.com/lAcsrTy.jpg)

What if it was just this easy? What if that weird line was leading from the diamond to the casque? Just line line up all the markers and there it is. ![](http://i.imgur.com/Iuc8dnJ.jpg)

So where does this put the jewel itself? Is it in the planter on the corner across from the Confederate Defenders monument below the plaque some people think illustrates “ the bar that binds”? Kind of looks that way if you expand your map outward a bit.
Much like the lat/long coordinates in the images helped solidify the cities, have always been curious if there is a similar methodology to tie the verses to the image/cities. There are a few no-brainer, but then there are others that have always had a debate between 2, maybe even 3 verses. Unless someone can figure this out, short of finding another casque I’m not sure how this issue gets resolved.

Unless someone can figure this out, short of finding another casque I’m not sure how this issue gets resolved. If an idea like this is even plausible, I was thinking the treasure line may be coming from the jewel/diamond location on the image and pointing to where it is in the real world. In this case that would be across the street from the stairs. You actually gave me that idea by suggesting that something in the image may be visible from the casque location. In this case that would be the Fort Sumter/stair/light pole/plaques compilation. I'm thinking the bar that binds is the bar that holds the cannon to it's base, the 2 identical cannons are the twins, and sidewalk squares are the eight (on the eighth) that lead to the 2nd cannon from the Maine Capstan. The dig site would be on the far side of that cannon toward the long palm across the street.

Hey Guys, I may be late to find this information but I believe it is relevant. The particular cannon I referred to above (across from the stairs) was salvaged from the wreck of the U.S.S. Keokuk. The Keokuk sank outside the Charleston Harbor on April 8th, 1863 (on the eighth a scene). It had fought a battle there the night before. And guess what, the Keokuk had 2 of these cannons on board ship (between two arms extended). Is that starting to sound familiar? ![](http://i.imgur.com/buNaxz2.jpg)

No question that it is in White Point Garden park ( unless it got dug up or destroyed) but you have to consider the shadow cast at the time of day and month and year by the palm tree when trying to locate it. ![3-F452-F99-26-C1-4-B39-93-D2-6-CEF409-E7734](https://i.postimg.cc/zfS1T9ng/3-F452-F99-26-C1-4-B39-93-D2-6-CEF409-E7734.jpg)

Hi diceycat, Boy a lot of work went into that and you may be right-on in your thinking. I personally don't think there is necessarily a correlation between the month of the puzzle and the time of year that Preiss was there. The month is mainly to dictate the immigrant group the puzzle represents based on the books listing of the groups and gem stones represented. Shadows probably play no role in the location of any casque but are used only as reference to direction and proximity. Example: if we look at the Keokuk Cannon, the long palm's shadow is just to direct us to which side of the cannon is in closest proximity to a palm tree. The white house clue is there to back it up or reinforce the clue.

I’m pretty sure you have to use the time shown on the picture to predict where the shadow is cast or else you will get a wide range of areas to probe depending on the time of day. In the famous Masquerade hunt ,shadows cast got you to the final location. The Masquerade hunt probably inspired BP to make his own hunt since it was very profitable. Other interesting stuff can be seen on YouTube site The Secret. Subscribe to it and you will see a lot of interesting stuff ,some reinforces others dismiss possibilities. The part 1 and 2 walk around with John Fraser is a must for St. Augustine also the meetup and walk around for White Point garden. I’m not sure but in one of those videos George Ward mentions that he found bits and pieces of plexiglass and bits of possibly the casque at White Point garden and the New Orleans site. This could have been the casque or just debris. You would have to do a detailed comparison to the ones already found and see if anything matches. I don’t know any more other than that. ![46697463-EB8-A-451-B-8-F91-91-E88-C2-D792-D](https://i.postimg.cc/bYZRKCcG/46697463-EB8-A-451-B-8-F91-91-E88-C2-D792-D.jpg)

Another way of looking at it: V2 Butterfly is a blue peacock. Poe means peacock Fort Sumter mask painting: Teeth = Threads of a screw Eyes = Universal sign for Don't (i.e. Don't enter) May be a clever way of saying "Don't tread on me" = Gadsden flag The flag is named after American general Christopher Gadsden = Red/White/Blue stripes + Star Lion: It's eyes, swollen eyelids and forehead = Golden VW Beetle At the place where jewels abound = Reference to The Gold-Bug by Poe; Sullivan's Island Fifteen rows down to the ground = Count 15 rows of blocks from east to the ground In the middle of twenty-one = Two possibilities. Middle of Station 21 St.; a 3 block long street. So middle block. Or Intersection of Middle St. and Station 21 St. From end to end = That narrows it down to the middle block. Only three stand watch = Lighthouse, Battery Gadsden + Thompson watch the entrance to the Charleston Bay. As the sound of friends Fills the afternoon hours = Elementary school next block; afternoon hours after school. Here is a sovereign people Who build palaces to shelter Their heads for a night! = Reference to Saint Charles, a hint to Charleston. Gnomes admire = Gnomes generally live below earth or fortresses. Fays delight = Word play, Light Faydes (lighthouse as the light circulates) The namesakes meeting = Two batteries? Near this site. = Fort Gadsden/Poe Library. It's below earth so search on top for signs/image hint. Another alignment: The line will cross right over the Poe's Library. ![](https://i.imgur.com/GhUsyPV.jpg)
