No, because I am suggesting he do it just to piss the lawyers off and make fools out of them! Forrest is exactly the person who would do that too, but what I meant to ZAP is that since he didn't do it, then perhaps ZAP is right and the chest was in NM.
I believe it was in WY, and I will never change unless the real finder proves me wrong.

Wy: Where did you get the idea I thought the chest was in NM? (Well, actually, of *course* it was there ~initially~, and could very well be there now, lol). But maybe you mixed me up with someone else, since I've been quite consistent about Montana for almost 5 years. NM was never a consideration for a microsecond. Never even looked at a map of the place. I get why a plurality of searchers focused there, but I've always been a Rosebud kinda guy.

Not sure why. Years ago (2017?) I was talking to Donna M. on the phone, and I think she mentioned you and NM? I'm probably confused... Well thats good news anyway, because now I know you're in the ballpark I have clues in MT, right over at Crow Agency and Sullivan's Knob trail that leads from Lovell WY up to Fort Smith? Cool stuff there, Devils Playground, Triple Echo Point, Sharps old cabin location at the confluence of little bighorn and bighorn rivers. etc. Also looked up near Lost Trail Pass on the border of Idaho and MT, near the Ski area Lewis & Clark road below/south of Missoula area. I avoided West Yellowstone like the plague because my theory is if he names the place in TTOTC, it isn't there (i.e. Red Canyon, West Yellowstone, etc).

BTW - A tip for anyone wanting to easily link images (such as the example below)... I use this: gyazo.com/enThen when editing your post, just create an image link and paste the link you have at Gyazo.

Nice solve... Of course I am curious to see other solves, especially when they are unique!

Thanks for checking it out, Wy. :-) I first learned of the Chase in the excellent California Magazine article in the LA Times in 2015. (That magazine insert appeared in many papers.) To this day I put that article in the top 3 Fenn articles.
Anyway, my gut reaction after that article was that he hid the treasure chest in Wyoming, and quite possibly in YNP. So my first (exploratory) BOTG trip was a month later to multiple spots in Yellowstone: Icebox Canyon, Gardner Canyon, Wraith Falls, etc., etc. It wasn't a treasure hunting trip, just a lark while already visiting Yellowstone. So... typical tyro, but that trip taught me a lot. And the biggest lesson was that I needed an end-to-end solution. WWWH alone was not going to cut it. So after that newbie exploratory experience, all subsequent trips have been full 9-clue answers.

Yeah my first solve was a joke, it was in YNP of course. Typical newbie crap, but I never did go BOTG to YNP.
I remember seeing a solve on Dals (by voxpos? or something?), he thought the "blaze" was a turd on a piece of tire (no kidding lol). I think we all had at least 1 bad solve, its part of the game! I remember teasing IronWill about his solve in West Yellowstone that ended in a tree above a picnic table. I remember asking "SO FF threw himself in a tree to die with the chest, only to have his corpse fall onto a picnic table?" eheh... IronWill is cool, he knows I am joking. The funny thing IMO, is some people never appeared to put much thought into anything, its like they were running from thermal to thermal, stream to stream, and up/down all canyons. hehe
