You can watch the short promo here:
Because there are so many guests: Jesse Eisenberg, Penn & Teller, Kyle MacLachlan, and Amaryllis Fox (CIA), plus Josh trying his hand at lock-picking, I don't imagine the segment on the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt will be very long -- 5 or 10 minutes out of that hour I'd guess. What do you predict Josh means by "a serious update on the discovery of Forrest's Fenn's treasure"? Will it be something about the finder? Will the find date be revealed? Will a new picture surface? Will the find state be revealed (or a search state eliminated)? I guess we'll know in the next 2 hours.
My guess is we won't learn anything new about the poem's solution -- to include exclusionary info. Any other prognostications?

I initially thought he would just be informing his audience late about everything we know. I went through his recent timeline and found no previous post-find post or show to update. Maybe I missed something.
The wording is kinda funny though, especially "serious update." I doubt we'd hear anything about the solve. If it is something new, it's likely an announcement from Fenn or the finder. Most likely it would be the finder finally reaching out. Perhaps we find out what will become of the chest. Maybe the finder is allowing Expedition Unknown to tell the story and they are announcing a future episode.

I think it would be sad if we do find out anything new in this way.

Josh Gates is cool. But we all are so vested in this, we only want specifics. For the general public, it was entertainment.

What's with the cryptic message Dal received concerning Aug. 4th, though?

I don't think they will ever come. It would be nice to know at least the state, but I doubt it with all the nutjobs suing. Have not seen a single valid case though IMO, all a waste of time by people who cannot earn a living in real life.

What's with the cryptic message Dal received concerning Aug. 4th, though? I don't know, but here is what I have as the quote: "I got one strange message on the blog today actually. The message was: Wait 'til you close it down until August 4th. I have something very important to reveal. Could it be from the finder? I don't know."

Clearly fake. The finder claims to be shy and wants to be anonymous. The finder met with Forrest. The finder would have no reason to contact Dal at all because he could have done so through Forrest.
These idiots are out there (maybe 25 people or so) trying to claim to be the finder on Youtube, Amazon, etc. All B.S. and people looking for attention because they lack a life.

Probably a private email to Dal, and clearly someone who doesn't follow HoD very closely or they would know Dal has no immediate plans to close down his blog. Closed to posts, yes, but it ain't going anywhere this year, let alone as soon as August 4. So I agree with Wy: it's just another attention seeker.

You know something interesting, zap? Think about this... Forrest could easily give out the state at least, it would satisfy many people and they might understand why the solve and exact spot are not given out by anyone (since its up to the finder). Well, these lawsuits are mainly based on solves ending in NM. You'd think it the chest was NOT in NM, Forrest would be quick to say "It was in MT" or whatever. What if he isn't releasing the state because it was in NM? Food for thought...

Well, Forrest has specifically eliminated some popular areas in the past, including the Rio Grande, and more recently the Million Dollar Highway near Ouray. (I'm sure some would quibble over my use of the word "eliminated," so let's just say the bloom is off the rose for those spots.) I wonder what announcement would shock more searchers: that the treasure wasn't hidden in New Mexico, or the treasure wasn't hidden within Yellowstone National Park? I would welcome either announcement, and would enjoy reading the reactions.

I’m sure both would get quite the reaction.
“Desert” solves were told to get a new solve also.
