Anyone else needing a nudge? I am working on this tonight and feel close. I’m working on chapter 4, I’ve got some solid clues and I think I know what city it’s in but can’t seem to crack any kind of code.

Mazlo...I wonder how you got a city without solving a cipher.

Maybe he's thinking the city is _Charleston_ since that's mentioned, and there's a _Riley_ park there.

I don't think that is how it works, but what do I know? All I know for sure is that what I'm doing isn't working.

yeah, I also read somewhere that the creator said not Cleveland, am I wrong about that? The 'Fragile' reference would certainly drop you in Cleveland (or perhaps Hammond one state over), but this would only function as a confirmer if the cipher solved for this. I do find it interesting given the "Oh Hit, Bam" title. OH = Ohio. However, Ohio is not one of the 14 not he Appalachian trail.

Could allude to O(ne) H(it). But that's probably not the kind of puzzle mechanisms we're being expected to use. Just find it interesting given the leg lamp reference out of context.

Agreed. From the interviews I've seen, he's made it pretty clear that using the correct method will spell out a sentence which contains all the components of finding it. He's said things like if you're using the correct method. you'll have the complete solve. So I don't see how choosing different references in the story could match what Dave said.

I think the "ONE HIT, BAM!" is an homage to, and hint to, the solve of Chapter Four. And that we should look for other such hints. If you think about the rules laid down so far, no, you don't absolutely have to have something, in this case, in Chapter Three in order to solve something in Chapter Four. Like "ONE HIT, BAM!" being a hint toward One hit wonders. So that rule isn't broken.
Thoughts?

One hit, bam!” Riley exclaimed...." so could be that the title is referencing the crater, or could be a nod to chapter 4.

Everything you need to solve chapter 4 is in the chapter so I don't think this would break the rule you are referring to.
