Also, the images just seems to have been thrown in the Japanese release after all the verses, but from what I can tell, there's no additional text to go along with the image. Have you seen any discussion around this image? Its so specific to digging, its got to reveal something.

Again, more guessing. The face of the creature kind of looks like a frog. A frog CROAks , (slang for croak is die ) and CROATOAN or was it just CRO that was carved into the tree . The leaves on the creatures head probably just represent the tree with the carving in it. The “ Templar” flag could just represent Christians on a mission to a far away place. Sure the flag might point ,or the shovel might point to the dig site. Another thing about the flag is the central point. Why the dot in the white circle? I still thinks it’s in the Waterside Theatre unless someone removed it. I personally have not read anything related to this image in the past.

I was told the publisher just picked random treasure related clip arts to fill the gaps in the book. Notice there are no artist sigs on any of them.

Well somebody drew those pics. I don’t think anything is random in the book. Might as well ignore everything in the back of the English version of the book. Those pics are there for a reason ,probably to help out the Japanese who purchased the book. They got the extra hints.
Long shot on the signature . The artists name may be something symbolic in the image or maybe related to the heraldic shields on the side of the ship.

My best guess is those are Beech Tree leaves... the tree happens to have a 'uniquely gray' colored bark...hmmmm

It could be a beach…. beech tree. Was the “CRO” tree a beech tree? I put out a lot of ideas. Some may trigger new ideas for others and change their perspective. Some ideas may be duds. We need to see all the possibilities out there and then determine which ones make sense. Lots of Symbolism at play in these puzzles.

100% agree. Need to dive down lots of rabbit holes, and if you're lucky there will be a pattern in the end of the tunnel that will relate to another rabbit hole, but you never know until you dive down.

The strange creature is a Kimono Dragon. SF/NYC tie in???

I think you mean Komodo Dragon. That could be a possibility, maybe the artist just referenced the head shape for the drawing, but the Komodo dragon is native to Indonesia ( found mainly on Komodo island), and I can’t see how it relates to the puzzle. I’m sticking with frog head, then again it might just be a hint for island ( Roanoke)

What's everyone's take on freemasons connection to these puzzles? I personally like the idea, for example we see the triangle, compass, Templar cross, and eye in the creature image. Imo this is critical to the NYC solution.
