Hmm? I have a few questions , What is it worth now ? What are the laws in France about Treasure Hunts of this kind? and How do you think others emotional response might be if it is found after 28 years .... I seem to have trouble judging how others emotions will manifest ...my brain is wired different . These are good questions! The owl was put up for auction in 2014 with an estimate of 100,000 euro. I think it would have sold for more, but hard to say. The auction was stopped by the A2CO an organisation set up to protect the hunt. I think because that case was won by the A2CO the prize is now protected and would have to be given to the winner. There are no laws specifically about treasure hunts that I'm aware of in France. Max Valentin ran hunts before this one, most ending in public forests, and I think there was no trouble. There's quite a dedicated community of 'chouetteur' in France, busy forums and a meet-up each year. I think people would be dissapointed if the owl was found, but there'd also be some relief, and hopefully closure to finally know what the clues meant. Max wrote a book of solutions before he died, so perhaps that would still be published? There would be a lot of interest in his words from so long ago. Apparently this book is on a floppy disk... That shows how long this has been going!

I refer to an article I found which had been written by a French Journalist and actually contacted the author regarding its authenticity. After a couple of emails we agreed that the Golden Owl could be worth as much as £2,600,000 to £12,000,000 million, considering its been buried for 30 years, is unique and also a piece of Art along with its history, being buried on the 23rd April 1993, Max sadly passing away 23rd April 2009. That said at the time the Article was written 2014 she was quoting 150,000,000 million euros, a figure set by a french auction house, a figure being banded around by french newspapers when Michel Becker attempted to auction the Golden Owl and withdraw from the competition, but obviously a French Judge decided the competition had to continue. First of all the Golden Owl is Buried, Secondly if you read the Article in question, the French Auction House valued the Golden Owl back in 2014/15 when Becker challenged the running of the competition, that being 150,000,000 million euros I contacted the author of this article. Becker got overuled by a French Judge so the competition had to continue. Please if you think different thats your opinion, but these are fact based answers, Good Luck!

Hummm i saw the golden owl with my own eyes at Rochefort for the 30th Anniversary, sorry to disappoint you unless you were referring to the countermark. The countermark that would have to be found is the bronze replica numbered 2/8 Despite i didnt contact the author of this specific article , i think i did better than he did, i have read all the court's judgments . 150,000,000 million euros ? Or 150 million euros ? In both cases you can’t be serious, Drouot set the opening bid in 2014 at only 80,000 euros so it is way below your estimate. These are facts. Good Luck !

The Golden Owl is not buried. It is in Rochefort. There are 1 or 2 countermarks buried.

Like I said this your opininon, why not post it on a separate thread?
The Prize of a Real Golden Owl is of course in Rochefort and will be awarded to the person that finds the bronze/iron owl in the ground somewhere in France but obviously you are looking in the wrong place!

A few thoughts: I was too blind and got stuck with this hunt, not wanting to progress. A change in perspective is better. 067F1F0988C6AB279E367226ABBF45FF58FF96E8027BD3AC403F9C6655CA0D01

new article, same old story, at Atlas Obscura: The Extremely Enchanting, Totally Perplexing, Possibly Never-Ending Quest for the Golden Owl "For 30 years, this labyrinthine treasure hunt has had thousands of players cracking codes and digging up the French countryside. After a sudden death and bitter disputes, will the prize ever be found? " www.atlasobscura.com/articles/quest-for-the-golden-owl-hidden-treasure

An update: Light shines near the leg(s) of the rooster and the man! I never understood why progress was so slow. B6446B1180E14A8304CC523E59EAF857759018D95171A78332755879E45EE079
